Free web hosting panel info
Hello,
I need some professionals opinions on choosing a free web hosting panel out there. The options would be ispconfig, gnupanel, syscp, etc. It would be used on centos for hosting a single website.
Looking forward to "hear" your advices/opinions.
Thanks!

I have only ever used ISPConfig. It is a good panel, but I would not use it for one site. For one site, I would not use a panel at all to be honest.
Of the other ones listed, GNUPanel just looks bad to me. I have never tried it.
SysCP is pretty much dead I think. It has been almost a year since an update. A large group of developers of that panel started a fork of it called froxlor. It is pretty good, but I can never get it to switch to different webservers.

I like Kloxo but, for Apache, if you are using PHP, you only get the option of mod_php or suphp (I prefer fcgid)). However, you can get lighthttpd running on it pretty easily and can enable Xcache with it with a click of button.

out of the 7 free ones listed here
http://vpsquestions.com/list-of-free...ontrol-panels/
Kloxo
ISP Config
ehcp
Webmin
vhcs
OpenPane
xPanel
I found that kloxo is the best, it works
the rest use lot of resources and they're buggy

Webmin (with Virtualmin for virtual web hosting) is actually very mature, stable, actively developed and uses few resources (basically it uses memory to run perl scripts). After using it successfully for years on multiple servers (as low as 128MB RAM), I'd be interested to hear about this 'buginess'

Its been a while since I used any of the free control panels now but if I'm forced to use one it'll be either Virtualmin or ISPConfig. More likely ISPConfig because it is "less custom", where all packages are from official repo. I find Virtualmin's interface a little confusing, but then again I work with DA/cPanel a lot so it breaks familiarity when I stumble on somthing different. E.g. domains being "domains" and not "virtual servers" (in virtualmin), and webmail being roundcube/squirrelmain instead of usermin.

If your only hosting one site, why need a control panel?
I assume there your own personal websites your hosting and not clients, as if your hosting clients you should at least go with Direct Admin.
But I also second kloxo, It's a very good free control panel for users...FusionNET Solutions - US/UK Locations | Adult/IRC Allowed! | DDoS Protected Networks!
