    * FREE Alternative to LIVEZILLA Live Chat ? Browser-based

    Hey there WHT'ers.

Looking for some FREE to low cost alternatives to LiveZilla?

I'm currently using ZOPIM since it's browser based and love the service, but looking to minimize costs, so if anyone knows of some browser based or free live chat software, please post your recommendations.

    Browser based is preferred.

Whats wrong with livezilla? I know its not browser based, but it doesnt really use much system resources and can easily be run from a USB thumb drive.
Apart from that the best really is ZopIM, you won't find better for free if thats what your trying to do.

    Thanks for the suggesstions.

Looked at comm100. Personally, it's just not for me. If I were going to settle for comm, I would definitely just stick with ZopIM.

CrafySyntax is lacking some features I want. Volusion's free version is also lacking some features.

Maybe I'm asking for the whole chabang eh?

    Thanks for the feedback.

What's wrong with comm100. We've been using it for a few months with no issues. It offers more support agents than the free version of zopim and is universal since it's a web app..

    Scott,

I've actually signed up with comm100 and I don't like the layout. It looks cluttered and the admin side doesn't really suit my taste.

ZopIM makes it easier to implement , design, and it just seemed to work more "fluid" than comm100.

I already have something good with ZopIM (even the free version beats comm's free version) in my opinion, and I'm looking to somewhat stay on the same level or upgrade. Not downgrade to something I wouldn't like using.

p.s. I hate comm's chat buttons as well (although I do believe you can upload your own)

No problems, I tried it a year ago and it was buggy. Perhaps its smooth sailing now, let me know how it works. As it's all sorts of web based.

I'll be testing this out in the next day or two. Not sure if I'll be implementing it live.

But all in all, thanks again for your link!

    I too liked the look of Zopim but its not suitable for an ecommerce store - even their $99 per month package. Its missing key features that stores need including;

    - Request a callback (shopper can input a phone number into the chat form and you can call them back)

    - Push pages (co browse, redirect the shopper)

    - Browsing history (can see each page the shopper has visited, giving you a picture of their interests)

    - No white label version, even at $99 per month

I contacted Zopim and they don't know when the above is coming but likely end of 2010. Its a decent free service for sure but they need to get those features in before they can expect folks to be serious about their $39 and $99 package.

I think if ZopIM incorporated these features, it can be a real contender to major live chat services.
