wow, thank you for your post - you inspired me to put a parking page to domain i've been lazy to work on till now

re 3rd item - i advise not to just redirect other domains to your main one
but to put at least one page with relevant content online and link it to your main website. those "satellites" push your main site at once!

re 4-th item - absolutely agree. but this is not necessary to hunt for expired domains. some people are abandoning their old unused names and sell them at cheap. (i myself bought a good domain that was about to expire at namecheap's marketplace for smth like $8. it was without backlinks though )
