    * LHC is 'being sabotaged from the future'

SCIENTISTS claim the giant atom-smashing Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is being jinxed from the future to save the world.

In a bizarre sci-fi theory, Danish physicist Dr Holger Bech Nielsen and Dr Masao Ninomiya from Japan claim the LHC startup has been delayed due to nature trying to prevent it from finding the elusive Higgs boson, or "God particle".

They say their maths proves that nature will "ripple backward through time" to stop the LHC before it can create the God particle, like a time traveller who goes back in time to kill his grandfather.

“One could even almost say that we have a model for God,” Dr Nielsen says in an unpublished essay.

“He rather hates Higgs particles, and attempts to avoid them.”

I am just reading on it now.
Pretty interesting by their claim that they can prove it with maths.

They can't prove it with maths, because it is based on a theory which is impossible for us (at the moment) to prove. However, assuming the multiverse or wormhole theory is true, then yes - this theory could be true

Well, if it didn't hapen in the future it won't happen now. But it had to happen in the future if nature ripples backwards to stop it in which case it can't stop. Time is linear. What ever happens in the future has already happened determined by events in the past. Following?

TL;DR version, just power the sucker up and lets see it can do which won't be much. All time has happened and what will happen has already happened. Time travel might be possible but any time travelling done has already happened producing whatever end result so when people think they are changing time or not is a matter of perception because might appear to change timeline but those changes they made already happened.

In the words of Chief O'Brian, "I hate temporal mechanics". But it can be fun to twist you mind and get to the end and find ot was actually twisted but a linear interpolation that had already happened.

The only solution is more magic mushrooms.

I think so, I think what you're saying is that if nature has indeed come back from the future & tried to stop the LHC, then they succeeded, otherwise there would be no future to come back from, my head's hurting now

Different streams of time, as well as alternate universes. One universe succeeded (and destroyed themselves) where the other failed. The one that failed until a later date (thus learning more before trying again and realizing deadly flaw in previous) is accessing others to prevent it from happening so the future in those is better. Obviously since in a alternate universe, timelines dont cross. For example, if we had access to an alternate universe and could effect time in the other.... that timeline would never cross ours, so we could affect it all we want without messing up ours.

    Why is that?

    Time is linear.
We don't know that for a fact.

i think it's time for the hadron colliding scientists to cut their losses, dissemble the biggest white elephant in decades and scrap the supersized spinning top.

I thought their next test would take place before 2010. But if the whole "black hole" theory is correct, we don't have to worry about the Mayan prophecy anymore. CERN is going to take care of it for us!
