Looking for backup server, is FDC the cheapest?

    FDC has this:

    Server #2
    BACKUP NAS
    Raid 0 or Raid1
    2x500GB SATA II HDDs
    1Gbps unmetered port
    $49/month + FREE SETUP
do you know anyone that can beat this price?

Probably just software RAID. At any rate, good enough for a backup server.

Looks like a pretty sweet deal. I'm just wondering if they would support/offer R1Soft CDP on those.

What makes this strictly a "backup server?" What OS does it have? I got a box from wholesale internet a few weeks ago for $35. 250GB hard drive, 2GB, Pentium 4. I'm using it as a backup server, but it has Linux so I technically could use it for webhosting or something else if I wanted to.

    Hi

For call a server "backup server" you should have an RAID array at least.

They are NAS boxes by either Dlink or Netgear I think. Either 2 or 4 bay hard drive NAS.
