Call your card company and double check, but yes. My card includes insurance for rentals, so I never get the coverage on the rental cars from the rental company them self.

Also call the insurance company you use for your car. Some will cover you in the rental for that period if they are aware of it .

Well, that pretty much covers it. Either your cc company or your insurance company will cover the rental insurance. Either way, there is usually no need to waste money paying for extra insurance to the rental company.
Whichever you choose, just make sure they are aware of ALL drivers of the rental car to make sure you are covered.

I'd get it, but make sure it covers almost everything. For example, my family just rented a car from "Dollar" and if you get a flat tire, you have to buy a new tire for the car.

Most (but not all) car insurance companies will cover rental cars if you have car insurance through them. Geico, for example -- last I checked -- will cover rental cars for up to 30 days for no additional charge simply by having your car insurance with them.

If you're under 25, you're forced to pay $15-25 extra per day for the insurance.

I had to pay that when I rented a car in Maui on my honeymoon. Some car rental places will not rent to anyone under 25 regardless.
I always decline the insurance because my insurance company covers rental cars. It's almost a scam.. I say almost, because most people don't need it - but if you aren't covered elsewhere - get it.0

I 'believe' I'm covered by both my car insurance company and my credit card company when I rent a car. Having said that, I just rented a car 2 days ago for 1 day, and I paid the extra $19 for Hertz's "Loss Damage Waiver" (or something like that), meaning if I was in an accident, I wouldn't have to bother going through my credit card OR car insurance... Hertz would take care of it. To me it was worth it to be safer than sorry... particularly since I was travelling in an area that I wasn't familiar with (Washington DC to Baltimore MD). So perhaps it was a waste of money, but I just wanted as few hassles as possible... and isn't that what insurance is for anyways?

My rental insurance was around $28/day. They literally lied to me and told me that Amex would not cover the time that the rental is out of service in which I would have to pay. I called up AMEX after I left and they said everything would be covered. I went back into the the agency, and they refused to refund the money. Almost $500 for something useless, and I don't know if I can do a charge back since they lied to me.
I use GeekStorage for all my hosting needs. They truly are the best.
