    Getting Refunded - Suggestions?

    Hello,

I'm trying to get a refund for my hosting that I paid for on the 3rd of August.

On the 5th of August I had some problems with my website and I submitted a "911" support ticket. Three hours after I received a message saying that an admin was looking into the problem. I replied to the ticket 2 hours after that reply to ask how it's coming along and only received a response 3 hours after my ticket reply.

Long story short, after submitting numerous tickets for a period of two days I was left for the wolves and was forced to switch hosting companies.

I submitted a ticket yesterday about getting a refund and they still haven't answered me. This was 19 hours ago, which is more then enough time to reply to a ticket.

I've also send an e-mail directly to the hosting company (this was on the 5th) and they still haven't replied.

I want my money back for my hosting. I just paid them 115 USD for nothing, what can I do.

I'm assuming you paid by credit card - do a chargeback.

Imho the worst thing you could do before actually discussing the refund with the provider (even it takes them time to respond to you).

If the company has any "Money back guarantee" policy the will refund you. They are probably busy with something, but I don't expect your request to get ignored. I wouldn't imagine that any web host would act against industry standard such as more back guarantee.

    BTW; I agree with MikeDVB,

Never ask for chargeback if you can sort the things with your service provider. It is not good for both sides. They are loosing money and credibility, you are loosing credibility only.

I agree with you as well. Seeing he had waited 5 days without a response, what is the recommended standard to wait before considering a chargeback?

After 2 days that is a red flag.

Oh really? Well what about Easy cPanel Host Inc, a registered company in Canada, (remember George?), well last week his server went off, and his phone lines were cut. To my knowledge he owes tens of $1000s and he has a money back guarantee.

This is a totally unregulated industry and hosts can say what they like to get in the business, but after they have the money, then you are totally reliant of their integrity.

    @Sp0oon,

Please let us know the host!

I would wait until I received a response or until I literally felt it was my last resort. If you file a PayPal dispute against an internet service and the provider responds that it was a virtual service not only did you just lose any chance at a refund most likely but you just lost the dispute as well.

This is the real problem behind the dispute. So try to get it sorted directly. Since you got a response from them finally I hope it will get resolved. Best of luck. A reliable company never deny a refund if it falls under their TOS.

That is a good attitude . But seems that can't be true always. In many occasions we can see some one step in here and bad mouth the host for minor issues even before trying to resolve between the client and the host.

Good advice. I would give the host another 2-3 days to work with you, but after that, charge it back. =/

I horribly dislike chargebacks, but the OP's situation seems to warrant it.

No problem mate. It can happen. I just did not get any clue about what you are trying to say, that is why I asked.

I'm hoping you got your situation worked out but general advice to anyone looking for a refund. Allow a little time for a response, as an example... Many hosts will send the refund request to their billing/accounting department. That department rarely works weekends at most companies.

Additionally, just try and be nice. Being nice will get you a long way.

    Hello,

The company I am dealing with is Wisededi.com

Both of my servers have been cancelled but I still haven't got any refund from them. They did answer me on the support ticket system but they haven't yet given me my money back. I think I'm going to do a charge back. I've never done one so what exactly are the steps?

You said you paid with PayPal which could be a problem. I read somewhere they do not do chargebacks on services. But file a complaint with PayPal and they will investigate it.

I already tried opening a complaint but it was closed because it was automatically closed because it was service.
