We have been working hard on our control panel ever since the incident. We now have the following in use:

    - Full support for both Xen and OpenVZ on CentOS and Debian hosts

    - Fully automated provisioning of Xen VPS and OpenVZ VPS

    - Highly optimised algorithms for calculating OpenVZ parameters leading to very low overhead VPS. Templates also optimised. A 64mb VPS will boot leaving ~60MB free memory!

    - Integrated with our own billing system (instant orders/upgrades/downgrades/etc)

    - Secure communication with VPS nodes from central system using SSHd+Python. No daemon or special installation required!

    - IP Pools and IP management in general. Bind Pools/subnets to servers etc.

    - Quotas working: Memory, Swap, Burst, Disk, Bandwidth, IP adresses

    - Realtime IP management for admins and end-users. Customers can add IPs to their VPS and provide
justification at this time - no staff intervention required

    - Reverse DNS manager: supports both direct delegation and RFC 2317.

    - OS Reloads for OpenVZ and Xen

    - Traffic accounting for OpenVZ and Xen on a per-IP basis

    - Monthly bandwidth usage prediction

    - The usual power on / reboot VPS etc

    - View VPS node stats: Quotas, Income, Accounts on node

    - Bulk VPS controls: Power on, Power off, Reboot, Force shutdown and Get Status of all VPS on a particular node

    - OS template manager

I may have missed some things and we have much more planned to come!

You can see a screenshot here. The UI is fairly basic just now because we are concentrating on features. Only once we are happy with everything will we design a nice looking UI.

Why? What's missing in HyperVM that is not available? I'd really like to know, but so far, nobody replied to that easy question.

I think a lot of people are waiting for a product that's feature for feature complete. That's probably not going to happen too soon.

Personally, I think people should find a control panel that does what they currently need. That'll give them time to assess other options and get business running again.

Sure it's a pain to have to switch twice if you go for a panel that doesn't work for you but surely it's worse to not be able to run your business at all?

Sorry, but what is missing in HyperVM? I'm sure HyperVM is missing a lot of things...

No, what's missing in our (open source) solution to be a good replacement for HyperVM to your eyes (appart from VZ support that we are working on). I'm having a hard time to gather opinions.

SolusVM Release Date: 14th August 2009

I know a few people were disappointed when we missed our first release date, hopefully this will make them happy again :-)

The licensing server and repository have now been setup, we have done some extensive testing and feel our product is ready to be released into the wild. This is release 1.0.0 which is based around OpenVZ with support for Xen and KVM coming in later releases.

Pricing has been kept very simple: $10 per node per month

A trial license lasting 15 days is available.

Support will be via our website at www.solusvm.com (website to follow in the next few days, forum is active now). A bug tracker and feature request list have been setup for you to use.

A full list of features will be posted in the next few days.

Since everyone else is posting screenshots of theirs, heres ours:

    http://www.vpsspeed.com/scp01.jpg

Still in the process of adding a few features, however the major functionality is live.

    Primary features include:

    - Live communication with each server
    - Per-VM lmit modifications
    - OS template's stored on remote server, synced to each slave server as required
    - Modular server communication, allowing us to 'plug' additional VM systems into the control panel. For example, we currently just have the OpenVZ controller, but can add a Xen, or KVM controller with ease.
    - Automated IP delegation via an advanced pooling system.

Like I said, these are just the basics for now. We've got a whole heap of extra features planned for the future.
