Great deal, 10,000 GB bandwidth for just over $100

Was browsing around the advertisements on the site looking at the dedicated deals. Found this one I though was amusing

They give you a whopping 10,000 GB bandwidth for only $129/m!

    2 x Xeon 5110 1.6Ghz, 4GB RAM, 320GB SATA with 10000GB Traffic 10 Mbps $129/month

Will be a bit hard to use all that on a 10 Mbps connection

It is not hard to use it on a 10Mbps port, but totally impossible! The maximum you can push out of a 10Mbps port is around 6TB only, concluding 3TB in + 3TB out.

Why don't get in touch with the guy who posted that offer and specify everything?

Sneaky sneaky advertising going on. They could offer you 100,000GB and it'd make no difference.

Unfortunately with false advertising it's the norm here with all the fly by night resellers posting in the ads forum.

From iWeb? Maybe it's a typo then. I'd be surprised if they intentionally offered something like that.

IIRC iWeb uses 10mbit ports and has free upgrades to 100mbit if your traffic justifies it. So assuming it's not a typo, it may be a matter of "if you're using the bandwidth, we'll move you to 100mbit".

Those are some magic 10Mbit ports if you can get 10TB out of them

Exactly. At iWeb, customers can request a free upgrade to a 100Mbps port at any time when usage justifies it or pay 10$/month to upgrade the port even if not needed.

If you got a 10TB server, you can use 10TB.

I can confirm, if you get a 10TB special, you get 100mpbs port. I got one of those server and I have been with iWeb for about 2 months, I have to agree with other people, sales chat is very slow, but so far the support have been good for me. The network is fast and solid. So far I am very happy.

Those offers will only be good if you can pool the bandwidth with many other servers within that companies network and if they didn't limit the amount of hard drives in them

Well it seems like the wan out port is 10Mbps but may be (just a wild guess) in network port might be 100Mbps or 1gig for which u can use 10TB in network traffic.

I currently have a colocated server stuffed with plenty of RAIDed hard drives. I cross-connect this server with a dedi 10TB at 99$/month and there I go!

This is awesome. I was able to push at 3MB/s to Amazon S3 for backing up my huge hard drives through this low cost dedi.

I didn't plan on getting a dedi but the iweb sale caught me.
