    Knownhost Vs. Futurehosting

I have to decide which way to go

    KH has good reputation, uptime.

Futurehosting offers more resources (HDD, Ram, Cpanel) but I coudn't find much reviews about Futurehostings.

    Any inputs will be appreciated.

I've never even heard of futurehosting, although it's never a bad idea to talk to them on live chat etc to get a feel for their customer service. I know that KH has some really great staff and really great reviews around the web, so if you're looking for a slightly more expensive VPS with guaranteed good service, I'd personally go with KH.

Hello, i used knownhost for something like 6 months to host my site, and the uptime, support was awesome, but the resources killed the site and i didnt had more money, im currently using futurehosting, and the site works ok, i have disabled some stuff because it still needs more resources, but as it is right now works great.

with knownhost i had VPS XLtx with extra 64RAM totally 384MB , with futurehosting i have 512SLM and im paying 10$ less, it is unmanaged but i don't need it, so you should try it then decide if it works for you

p.s. the management at futurehosting is only 5$, and the response of futurehosting is OK, normaly 15min to 30min, with knownhost it was like 5-10 minutes.

My web is not intensive one and does not require much resources.

The reason I need to upgrade is PASSWORD() hash.
KH reseller server generates 16byte password hash for their old customer whereas 41byte, even they use updated PHP.

Basically, I was looking for Texas based SDX(semi-dedicated reseller) for Jaguarpc but their new servers go to Atlanta datacenter and they don't offer account in Houston.

Since I have experienced horrible time with Trexhost & Risingwebworks, I'll take 'reliability & uptime" for decision making.
Knownhost, Futurehosting, Jaguarpc are good for Uptime and history.

One drawback of futurehosting is they don't have customer forums.

p.s. Knownhost customer service is REALLY one of the top notch. Every ticket was answered within 10 min.

i would really look further on that jaguarpc good for uptime and history, from my personal point of view, i had the worst hosting experience with them.

If you don't requiere much resources then maybe you should just look for a different reseller

I'm another very happy futurehosting customer. I've talked with some very senior people there, am myself a professional linux sysadmin, and I've been very happy with their knowledge and service. They've gone out of their way a few times to help me in ways not specified by their plan or terms and conditions.

I've used both KnownHost & FutureHosting before and both are quality providers. I might slightly lean towards KnownHost though - my experience there was truly phenomenal.

The RDNS entry for all IPs on our network will be in that format by default, unless a change is requested.

We keep our website and help desk at Rackspace so customers can contact us in the unlikely event of a network wide issue at any of the datacenters our customers are located in. A drive in the raid array in the Rackspace server was degraded and they wanted to force 4 hours of downtime on the server while they rebuilt the array offline. Instead of leaving our customers without access to us for such an extended period of time, we moved our help desk and website back to our owned servers with Steadfast.

Upon completion of the raid rebuild, we will move these back to our systems at Rackspace. That is why it shows Steadfast instead of our name.

I currently have a VPS with FutureHosting and it has been great. I am in their Seattle node and the ping times are good since I and my customers are in Asia. There hasn't been any downtime complaints from my clients yet. Whenever I submit a ticket I get a reply within 15 minutes normally. A critical ticket was once resolved and replied within 2 minutes by Jim! It has been over a couple of months since I moved to FutureHosting (from PowerVPS) and I hope to write a review at WHT soon. I was migrated to their new data center today, so I'll do the review after a couple of weeks.

I've been with knownhost for almost 2 years...absolutely no complaints.

I have about 8 domains hosted on my VPS (mind you, some are pretty low-key) but hot damn, the thing never quits. I have all my goodies installed, I couldn't be happier.

For the bang for buck, speed, and support that you get with knownhost, it's a pretty easy decision to make.

Thank you All of you guys

I just singed up with Knownhost.

There were some options for me (2 VPS, 2 semi-dedicated hosting, 1 shared)
    It' ALL MY OPINION.

    1. Knownhost (VPS - $40 XLtx + $5 Cpanel + $7.5 RAM 128MB)
    - Many good reviews & recommendations . Fast responding. Based in Texas.
    - small sized compared with others so feel like personal customer service.

    2. Futurehosting (VPS - $39.95 Cpanel gold + Free Ram upgrade 128MB)
    - More resources. Happy customers are there. No forums in their website.

    3. Downtownhost (Semi-dedicated, $60.95)
    - Very reliable company, Many good reviews.
    - Little Pricey, cannot use coupon
    - For me, I don't need too much cpu, ram resources.

    4. steadfast (shared - platinum plus, $59.95)
    - Attractive Litespeed server, H-Sphere.
    - Good reviews. Good Network & Database.

    5. Jaguarpc (Semi-dedicated)
    - Mixed reviews. Not accept new customer in Texas

    Again Thank you all.
