    Apparantly not.
    It's not necessary to.

You posted that at 12 pm, your times say 5 pm. Why does it say day(s) not days? Sorry I just find it hard to believe you've had your servers up that long. Not that it's not possible, just fishy
Different time zone and it always says day(s)
Why would he lie about that? Kinda silly.

And I agree our pre RHEL / centOS servers are the toughest ones (all the above are pre RHEL), able to handle large load spikes, etc... without locking up and requiring a hard reboot. Most of the servers above average 200-400 GB per month.

Reviving an old thread since I never saw the original questions about the format.

The reason it says "day(s)" is because that's how Solaris does it. Have a look at the solaris uptime man page.

I no longer work for that company, so I don't know how those machines are doing. Where I'm at now, we have several machines just over 1000, but nothing any better than what I posted a few years ago.

Noting fancy here, just switched to 2 new webservers on CentOS 6:

    Code:
    [root@b1 /]# uptime
     14:22:59 up 20 days, 1:48, 1 user, load average: 1.33, 0.66, 0.43
    [root@b1 /]#
    Code:
    [root@media /]# uptime
     14:23:48 up 26 days, 12:52, 1 user, load average: 0.10, 0.18, 0.45
    [root@media /]#
These run on custom 2.6.38.2 kernels, so wont be affected by updates on CentOS kernel updates
