500 internal error DUE to htaccess/htpsswd
hi guys
am protecting my entire site with .htaccess/.htpsswd
i get promoted to enter username and address
ok that's fine
however after that the page doesn't load and instead i get:

500 Internal Error

your .htaccess file is probably written incompletely or incorrectly, or your provider might not support mod_security (I read your other thread).
What is in your .htaccess file(s) and do you know that .htaccess files cascade (that is, they affect and override each other in subdirectories)? This could be the issue.

what you get in /usr/local/apache/log/error_log when you refresh the page. what is in your .htaccess file ?

i had a syntax error apparently in my htaccess
my host support corrected it to me
