Lunarpages
Top notch company, very supportive, fast servers, great prices with a large selection of options.
Highly recommended!
I will be adding another web site to their hosting service to go along with the one I already have.

And how long have you been a client of theirs? What site do you currently have with them? Please, tell us more. Looks better for both you and the host you recommend.

I have been there since the end of December 2002. I have had only one instance of downtime and that was for 15 minutes because they were replacing a battery in a piece of equipment.
I didn't post my website because some consider that spamming the forum.
If you wish the website, let me know.
Good luck to you!
Cheers!

I did a little research..
One reason that turned me off on Lunarpages was thier allowance of adult content. I also searched and found several referances to thier mail servers being blamed and blocked for porn spam.
Yes, thier servers seem to be very fast and reliable from what I've seen but I'm not so sure I trust living in a neighborhood with porn vendors.
Will my page view responses suffer from the mass trafic of a porn site?
Will a vigilanti DOS attack knock me off the air too?
Will my mail get blocked because someone using the same mail host was naughty?
These are questions that concern me.
And these are the issues that prevented me from choosing them as a host.Randall J. Berry

Valid concern. I have seen in their forums tho that any sites that cause a bandwidth issue will be informed of the infraction and the appropriate steps would be taken.
I have no first hand knowledge of the email concern, but I can see your point.
So far it really has been smooth sailing there, haven't noticed any sort of slowdown or email problems. Like I said in another post, finding a host is almost always 50-50, even with research.

As Lunarpages was included in an ip range of a current Cogent customer, spews blocked us as well.
We have switched away from Cogent and are no longer affiliated with them at all. In fact, we switched away from them last year. And there have been no issues of mail being blocked since.
We now use multihomed bandwidth from a large number of providers. Including NTT/Verio, Genuity and Global Crossing.
We do not allow our users to send out spam / bulk email. And we do not allow any type of adult hosting that would generate the kind of traffic you are worried about. All adult sites are screened.Last edited by Maximiliam; 03-20-2003 at 08:57 PM.

Thanks for clearing that up Max..
Although Adult content hosts still scare me off. It's nice to know that there are some hosts who make specific rules about that sort of hosting and enforce them.
You're right. Most of the complaints I saw was through SPEWS. So that being a given, I'll retract my comments about the spam since that issue has been resolved.
With that aside overall as mentieoned lunarpages servers do seem to be very reliable and fast.
Good luck..Randall J. Berry

I was *this* close to signing with Lunarpages, but I need more than 300MB of space, and since we'll be using phpbbs and phpnuke/postnuke, the "we will terminate your contract without notice if you use more than 'average' server resources" clause in the TOS scared me off.

Thanks!
Thanks!
Still looking at options, but so many things vying for my time right now. I need to find out how much CPU time all these scripts will take if the site gets busy (phpbb, postnuke/phpnuke, gallery, hot or not script, custom contest script, etc)
