I am using netscape 4.7 on windows.
Whenever I access the board, I get a blank screen totally.
if i hit "reload" the screen pops up for fraction of second.
I do that repeatedly. same thing
Only when I the select netscape "STOP" does the screen appear.
Previously, this indicates a problem with html tags.
Even in signing in and posting this message I have to select
netscape "STOP" to display every screen.
PS, on the email contact info at the bottom of the home page it is not obvious necessarily to remove the nospam from your admin address. and I am not sure if i need to remove the hyphens.

kunal,
You have to get used to netscape. When I used to be on windows, I was 100% for IE. When I made the switch to Linux and used netscape and lynx, there was no turning back.
scottperkins,
Does this happen at other web sites? I know there is another forum out there that uses this same technology, vbulletin. Maybe someone can point him to the address? Try that and see if you get the same problem.

Scott,
This is a known problem with any PHP/MySQL or CGI bulletin board and Netscape. What happens is that the board pages are dynamically generated from the MySQL database, and just occasionally some HTML tags get thrown out of whack. Netscape renders HTML strictly and any tags out of place mean Netscape usually refuses to display it properly. Thus, IE is better in this respect in that it's more forgiving.
The only way is to keep hitting Reload until you get the full page.

To clarify and reiterate
I just want to emphasize that no matter how many reloads
I attempt, it only flashes the screen. I have to hit
"STOP" I know that it is not universal PHP/MYSQL as
I have been evaluating Phorurm and Agora forums by visiting
dozens of their user boards and this was not a problem.
I will try the VBulliten board and see. Hey, I have not ever used I.E. so ignorance is bliss but I know netscape and it works well for me and whatever good or bad there are plenty of netscape user now and for a long time.
Just thought you should know.

Confirmed problem isolated to this board
I just zoomed over to VBUlliten and checked on several
of my previous posts and responses etc and no problems
what so ever. As soon as I jumped back here the scree
sat blank again until I hit "STOP" please forward this
to whomever the appropriate contact is for this site.
let me know if I can help.
mailto:2scott@bellsouth.net using Netscape 4.7
PS. for what it's worth, I visited about ten VBulliten sites
yesterday ( from the links to user sites at the VBulliten
Main site ) and I left similar messages on their board
yesterday as it was doing the same thing... I'm sorry
I dont remember which one. Probably something in common.

Scott.... Interesting, because it actually happens to me on Phorum. Bloody annoying!
I do wonder if it's also related to the OS/hardware someone's running... But... *grrrrrrr*

unclarity
I noticed I was not clear in my last post. I
meant to say that out of about ten VBulliten boards
visited that only "one" of them had the problem
exactly like here. I cant remember which.
Even still for this post ... same problem. Screens
will not appear without "STOP"

Well this is the stock install, but I'm not sure which hacks Matt has added. One might have thrown something off. Tip: Use IE for this board for problem free viewing

I'm brand new here so if the responsible guy is Matt
please see that he gets all this. It will be up to
him to determine if all the worlds Netscape users are
excluded. ( well for now.. let's just say ver 4.7 users )
I.E. may be great and someday I will probably switch
seeing as how Microsoft beat their butts but I am master
of netscape for the moment and nothing that you dont know
is better than what you do know...

OK, well, I'm trying at home now (on a different comp) using Netscape 4.75 - and it's all loading perfectly.
This is quite irritating...
*fires up IE*

the least I could do is upgrade to 4.75 from 4.7
that could not be too much trouble. ( for most people )
I am jinxed.

Well if it works in NetScrape 4.75 but not in NetScrape 4.7 then I don't think that there's much that can be done. I don't want to ask you to upgrade (that would be annoying), but usually upgrades fix the little buggies (while creating new ones, heh). You may want to upgrade just in case you run into this on the net again.

I'm running Netscape 4.06 right now and it doesn't have any problem. Except for having to have my password emiled to me LOL
Everything looks just fine.
