    Japanese develop 'female' android

Japanese scientists have unveiled the most human-looking robot yet devised - a "female" android called Repliee Q1.

She has flexible silicone for skin rather than hard plastic, and a number of sensors and motors to allow her to turn and react in a human-like manner.

She can flutter her eyelids and move her hands like a human. She even appears to breathe.

Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University says one day robots could fool us into believing they are human.

Repliee Q1 is not like any robot you will have seen before, at least outside of science-fiction movies.

She is designed to look human and although she can only sit at present, she has 31 actuators in her upper body, powered by a nearby air compressor, programmed to allow her to move like a human.

It reminds me of the movie 'Blade Runner' where they would have replicants who would act like humans after being outlawed after the great war. Its only a matter of time before replicants overun our planet.

now, i'm going to ask the japanese to make a female sex android!

Scientists think that, one day, robots could fool us into believing they were human
Or we could program them to not...

Seriously - why would you want to try and do that?!

I wouldn't worry too much about it as a robot can never fully mimic a human's emotions and you can tell by the skin.

If rebots such as these walk the Earth i'll be able to spot a skin job easily. It will become difficult when these makers start using organic skin ( culture grown) that will make it difficult to spot.

It would then require a machine similar to Blade Runner to spot them.

I just spit margarita all over my keyboard, there's like $3 worth of Grand Marnier sticking up my keyboard now...

If they're TOO expensive let's go in halvers on one, you can have her the odd #'d months and I'll take her the even #'d months. Might need to have a chat with the wife first tho, get her "ready" for the new techno gadget....

LMAO ... Why not even take it a step further, and have a true fractional ownership of this "gadget" to make it most, ehem, affordable for all parties (involved). Even better, one could have a pay per use facility ... it'd be like a super interactive experience. In large metro area's, you'd probably make a killing -- one doll could potentially generate a million dollars per year in user fees.

Jay, are you suggesting this android woman become a slut? That's horrible!

You guys watch out... some day when these are mass produced and they become our slaves... there will be groups lobbying for Robot's Rights, and Anti-Robot Abuse groups....
