is there any internet access in gaylord?

we were asked if we wanted internet access (as exhibitors) for $640 in the hall!

that price is too hard to be swallowed. totally rip off!

please correct me if im wrong

what?? In previous years the place was flooded with wifi for attendees - but that was Chicago Navy pier - you were never outside a wifi connection within 50 yds of the exhibit hall or any of the session rooms.

Free Wi-Fi will be available throughout the entire show for attendees. But, just like in past years, exhibitors are encouraged to purchase a separate connection for your booth if it's critical for your booth presentations. We will do our best to keep the Wi-Fi running and available to as many people as possible, but we can't guarantee that it will be available in your booth at all times.

Wifi was decent last year and fast. The year before it was shocking. Hopefully will be good this year.

but don't you think $640 is overpriced? average of $210/day.

i can get a server with 10TB with that budget easily.

No, for convention space, it's actually pretty darn cheap. You should see some of the prices in Vegas and NYC for convention floor Internet access, we've paid more than $2k before.

Having been to a number of exhibitions and shows - the average cost of 1Mb/s of internet access is $450/day - $210 is a bargain.

210$/day is indeed a bargain compared to other prices I've seen before.

I think the real question is what kind of speeds do you get? If they give you a 100mbps unmetered line for a day, of course that is a great deal; however, if you are only getting 786kbps then that seems pretty high.

I have never dealt with this before so I really don't know.

I agree, $210/day is cheap. A company I briefly worked for, brought a EVDO card and a compatible wireless router (you plug the card into the router) to avoid the outrageous cost of internet at these conventions.

Sounds pretty expensive to me; I was really surprised to hear those rates! Looks like I'll be sticking to AT&T's 3G internet where I don't have WiFi...

My Verizon EVDO card works well if there is good coverage so I never bother paying for hotel internet access unless I can't get service. If we had a booth though I would most likely get it just for reliability purposes.

Sounds like what we get to pay for about two days of electricity.

Most of it should be offline possible also? Run your demo pages locally for the event?

In chicago it was great so I assume we can expect the same quality this year?

price wise guys, the 200 and a bit USD/day really isn't such a big deal ... especially not if you can convert them into EUROS
