    Giveaway A Good Promotion Technique?

Well, some of you may see that I currently run <<removed>>. We're trying to find methods of improving and promoting the website, and it's social media links (Facebook and Twitter), and I had this idea.

Once we hit 100+ likes on our Facebook page, I'll grab every single liked persons name, link them to a number and place it in a generator, the winner can either win a 3 Months Webhosting & MineCraft servers, a MineCraft game copy or a copy of PAYDAY: The Heist game.

Is this a good technique or not? I can't really find many communities to actually promote the event.

It would be best to split the prizes individually so you can give each to 4 winners. The more winners the better I suppose.

Surely pal. Giveaway is really a market catcher. But i think it would be better if its 3 or 5. I feel the winner terms sounds better if they are in odd numbers.

    Thats my thought only

Giveaways are one of the best promotion techniques whether it be offline or online. The word "FREE" always makes an impression on your audience

Not in some cases like gaming forums I suppose. Giving away exclusive freebies are always appreciated in a forum community.

But how can this be? There are so many gaming communities out there. Have you done a google search for gaming forums and started there?

I don't understand how it's hard to find them.

Some have just dismissed me actually, saying I'm not allowed to show anything related t my site? I've advertised on all the sites I'm a member on.

We hosted one a while back and it did gain some tweets and Facebook likes exactly what we were after.

You set the terms so for example they may have to Blog about if you are giving away a higher value product such as a server.

If you are giving away shared then liking on facebook and twitter is enough IMO.

Giveaways can be effective. Don't make the barrier too high. As loubymar mentioned, requiring just like a "like" or a "follow" may be the best.
