"Taxation by Misrepresentation", an E-book by John W. Benson, is by far the best explanation of our income tax system and the laws involved in compelling citizens to pay income tax.
All IRS processes and procedures are based on the revenue procedures employed by the king's revenue officials in the Exchequer (Treasury) in 1791, dressed up in modern garb. [more]

"Technically" income tax is voluntary, to an extent.
Depending on what you claim on your taxes, depends on how much of an interest free loan the government gets every year.$this->hasFlavr() ? $nom->nom('nom') : $want->doNot()

They don't mind putting their ex agents that have claimed this in jail, nor do they mind putting Irwin Schiff away (a wealthy man through tax protest activity, even while sitting long times in jail)
If they didn't work for them, I doubt their arguments will work for you.
Social Security was also a 'voluntary' program when it was passed and even newspapers ads of old can be found touting that, but it is enforced as mandatory.

How do you pay for your Military? How do you pay the salaries of poloticians, as it is a full time job and nobody can afford to work for free?
an old quote that is so true. The only thing in life that is for sure is death and taxes. This is because they are neccessary evils.

If you want to pull a Wesley Snipes go right ahead. You see where that landed him. You legally have to file your tax returns or you will be sent to jail. If you file and don't pay they will start to levy you and take other legal action, but the chance of going to jail will be slim. Either way you are legally responsible for the money owed to pay your taxes.

If you have to operate your company behind the scenes or under a fake name, maybe it's time to leave the industry and start something fresh.

True, but before 1913 there was no income tax, and even back then the income tax was very small.
There would always need to be taxes and the income tax is far from the only tax the federal government has on us. (ex. Gas, Tobacco, Alcohol, Estate, Gift, Capital Gains, Tariffs, etc)
Congress used to be part time in the beginning of the country, we could start with that
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...y_expenditures
That is another thing we could address, along with the billions given to other countries for nothing in return (ex. North Korea, Egypt, etc).
No income tax would be hard, but a smaller income tax is definitely possible.Last edited by devonblzx; 02-08-2012 at 11:28 PM.
