100tb.com: Look what we sent out to our clients today...
We sent this out to our clients today...Free upgrades from 10TB to 100TB - and starting Monday all new servers will come with 100TB instead of 10TB as well.
- Pricing will stay the same
- Servers will stay the same
- Network and infrastructure is still the same (at Softlayer)
- ...you just get 10 x the traffic.
Best deal in the business? ... We'd like to think so.
Ditlev
www.10tb.com (soon to be 100tb.com)
Dear <client name>
We are very pleased to announce that as of today all 10TB Dedicated Server clients
will be upgraded to 100TB for free. This is in conjunction with our re-branding
of 10TB to 100TB.
There will be no cost change for this biblical move in the Dedicated Server market.
All servers, new and old, will be the same price with 100TB as standard on our
multi-homed Tier 1 network. As we continue our rapid growth, we have given all our
current loyal clients this upgrade as of today. Partnering with Softlayer data centers,
recognized as one of the top-rated data center infrastructures in the world, 100TB
customers are assured exceptional high levels of data security and automation.
100TB is a first in the industry for providing such levels of bandwidth as standard.
All servers will be on a dedicated 1GigE port. The new offering has been designed
for our clients and their clients to expand their infrastructure while never having
to worry about bandwidth overages ever again. All servers will still have a dedicated
1GigE (1000Mbps) port so that you are free to use all of your allocation with no worries.
All existing dedicated 100Mbps unmetered clients will be changed onto a dedicated 1Gbps
unmetered line (330TB of bandwidth), for no extra cost to what they pay now.
With 200Gigabit+ of connectivity to the Internet, 100TB makes use of one of the biggest
internet backbones in the US. Our diverse connections are spread across 10 of the leading
network providers in the US, all data centers have multiple Tier 1 providers.
Providers include Global Crossing, Level3, Internap, NTT, Qwest, Equinix, Telefónica
and many more.
All clients can monitor their bandwidth usage in our industry leading Tera control
panel which gives you full control over your server. “No other web hosting vendor is
offering this level of bandwidth in dedicated server solutions and we are proud to give
it to our existing clients free of charge. Every server will have an unthrottled 1000Mbit
port and 100TB of unrestricted tier one bandwidth each month.” said Ditlev Bredahl, chief
executive officer, The UK2 Group. “The UK2 Group has a history of pushing the envelope and
setting new industry standards with web hosting and this game changing announcement gives
100tb.com a significant competitive edge in the dedicated server hosting industry.”

So, let me guess. You will offer dedicated servers from $200, located in the USA, with 100 (!!!) TB of Traffic allowance a month?
This is roughly 300 Mbit/s (!!!) Dedicated bandwidth (with unlimited transfer if you stay at that speed) over a Tier-1 Multihomed BGP4 Network.
So, I get each megabit guaranteed dedicated bandwidth for less than $1 with the (quality) hardware included?
It just doesn't make sence to get so much dedicated bandwidth for so less money than others...
For example, a 100 mbit/s dedicated high-quality tier-1 bandwidth will cost around $1000 (depending on location). Just ... doesn't make sence...

then do not buy it
...we went through the same discussion when we broke the 10tb barrier back in 2007: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=631838 - read that thread - everyone said it couldn't be done, that we were crazy, and that we would go broke. Now, 3 years later we've made 10tb somewhat of an industry standard, and we felt we needed to step up to the next level.

So what we're talking about here is:
I can now buy a 10TB server from you and get 100TB bandwidth on that ? I don't need to pay that extra $249 100Mbps thing either, right ?
So you're basically offering 300MBit for the prices you have listed on the site..
Please correct me if I'm wrong..

Dont know about Urchin, but sales@10tb.com should be able to confirm.
