I guess it could not hurt to have an "iOS Devices" section.

But it would probably be empty, unless there's an iOS-KMyers lurking around

Android is the world's most popular mobile OS.

Come back and request it when iOS is number one

If there's an Android section, there should definitely be an iOS section.

But you requested an iOS section and not a iPhone section.

Android is the most popular mobile OS and hence has its own section - nothing to do with mods favoring one over the other. Of course if one OS has its own dedicated section maybe others deserve to as well. Maybe symbian and windows should be considered too as well as iOS.

    That's just nonsense
Just because a piece of software is on 'more devices' doesn't mean it's "the most popular". It just means that it's the most diversified. iOS is just as deserving as Android of having their own section.

The truth is we don't really need a dedicated OS section for these devices. A mobile device section in general should qualify, and get things much more populated. I'm just saying that if one has to have their own forum, the other deserves equal treatment as well here . Windows is pretty much dead as a mobile OS, just look at their numbers.

If you had to choose one OS to have its own section, would you not choose it based on the one with the most users and the most popular?

Personally, I did not know the Android section existed til you pointed it out - Certainly do see where your coming from as it has a sub section of its own within "Computers, Peripherals, and Handhelds", when a sub section for all mobile devices would have sufficed.

There actually isn't much data when you compare total market share - including the iPod Touch and iPad which both run iOS. It's likely Android has more total share in the world, but I never found definitive data on that.

I'm with this idea instead ^^

Plus I think an iOS section is a non-starter when iNET owns mac-forums.com

Maybe put a link here to this spot: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/ios-apps/. Like is done with freewht.com.
If you have to operate your company behind the scenes or under a fake name, maybe it's time to leave the industry and start something fresh.

That is true, for the reason I quoted above. I only have 7 android devices and carry 5 around at all times.

    No it wasn't.
You're referring to an OS , as opposed to a phone. Learn the difference between the two.
The iPhone has been the top selling phone for years now. In fact, the device took not just #1 but #1 AND #2 last year (4, 3g-s), and I'm pretty sure came in close the the 4S. Nobody's come CLOSE to dethroning the phone as the top selling phone.

Actually this thread is titled iOS not iPhone, hence why I am referring solely to the OS. Personally I am an HTC Lover for my phones (I have 3 different HTC Phones)

I saw the title of this thread and thought you were talking about Cisco IOS.

On a forum like this you'll need to come up with a different name for it or it'll be full of network engineers

Changing the capitalization of 1 letter doesn't really help with the confusion.

Besides, doesn't Android compete with Apple?

Now, if you call it an Android forum, that'd be fine.

It's already here, as linked in the original post.
The point is that if one exists, there's no reason the other shouldn't. Or, that we just need a single forum for all mobile devices and OS'es, which is a better way to do things to begin with.

Yeah, so that someone with windows mobile can use it too.

Better yet, open a mobile devices forum iNET

So ... how about Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Mobile then?

There are a *ton* of sites and forums that specialise in each of the various mobile platforms. There are even an endless number of splogs catering to them.

Except for the oddball efforts at hosting http on phones as experiments, mobile phones have no inherent relationship to the main focus of WHT.

If topic wander is your thing, then WHT might as well also have a section for recipes broken into sub-sections for each of the international variants.

Anyone who can find WHT, can just as easily find a phone forum using a search engine.
