Exclamation You MOST DEFINITELY should NOT go with CanHost.Co.In

Was just browsing through the dedicated server offers board, and here's a thread I came across:
    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=863199

Took a look at their website and it seemed really similar. Checked up on
    http://www.hostican.com

    And VoILA!

http://www.canhost.co.in is a BIT by BIT rip of HostICan's design.
    What's more?

    Compare the testimonials..

    http://www.hostican.com/whyus/testimonials.php
    http://www.canhost.co.in/whyus/testimonials.php

Names changed, testimonials copied, word by word.
Site itself is hosted on Indian servers, not sure if this should impact it, but I guess that's how they've managed to stay up for so long?

This is ONE company you DON'T want your dedicated servers with!

They've put up offers on DP forums too. Goes to show they've been around with a scam for quite some time.

Although, one is a reputed company (in some regards) while the other is a rip-off

Wouldn't it be a little better just to develop your own ideas? I guess what ever is easiest is what some people try now days.

maybe they are a division of hostican but I don't think so.

there's a hostican member on here I'm sure, so maybe they can elaborate.

    Hey guys!

Yes, they have stolen our design. Our legal folks are trying to get this resolved, but seem they are outside the US, making things a little harder.

I would agree that you should NOT under any circumstances signup for this company, that has stolen our design (HostICan), and using it as their own.

I would like to personally thank everyone in the WHT community for their support, as I'm sure you guys are aware about what its like when someone steals your design and poses that they are running a company.

    Best Regards,

    Denis

Everything is basicly copied. Look at testimonials, design, company page, etc. All the same.

    Contacted HostICan, here's the response

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting HostICan Sales.

This site has been stolen from HostICan. Please don't buy anything from that company.
I've reported this to our legal team to resolve this issue.

Thank you for letting us know.

Are they still actively advertising at DP?

Though now they've been advertising under a different domain
    (canhost.co.in) .. was previously (canhost.us).

    Both hosted on Indian servers.

    EDIT:
Here's their paypal email address, in case you might want to lodge a complaint with them too

The account should be receiving infraction points at DP for spamming if they're posting every day. I remember a bunch of people were suspended after they cracked down on the advertising rules last year.

Not really if you have different offers.
But adding infractions to their profiles won't help much. They can always come back under a different account.

Best idea would be to complain to their ISP directly, airtel.in

Not unless they were changing IPs. And it would pretty much be a waste of time to sign up under multiple names and advertise the same company... would probably just get banned over and over.

also Inxcode....you could try contacting their domain registrar...Sponsoring Registrar: Directi Internet Solutions Pvt. Ltd. dba PublicDomainRegistry.com

looks to be with resellerclub. they might be able to do something about it.

I just noticed one of the links in his signature (phoneytune.com which was a rip of phoneytunes.com) in the DP topic and remembered seeing it mentioned in another forum topic that was reporting about a scam: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=5405

The other website of the scammer is mantraway.com and it seems to be the same guy behind canhost.us as I see both the websites (canhost.us and mantraway.com) are hosted on the same IP address. The IP "122.160.111.220" is under an ISP in India called Airtel which provides broadband connections and so the websites are probably hosted on his PC. A reverse IP lookup shows scam like domains "hsbcgroupuk.com", "cenbankmails.org", etc. on the same IP address.

They have not only ripped off hostican.com's design but they seem to have taken the name off "canhost.ca" which has been a web hosting provider for long time based in Canada.
