MOTM: February 2003 Nominations
Fellow Members of WebHostingTalk, the time has come again to nominate those we think deserve the honor. To those of you who do not know what this is all about:
Each month, we (participating members of the community) get together and nominate members we think should be acknowledged. The members do not have to be hosts, they may be customers also. It is a two part process - nominations and voting. The 5 members with the highest number of nominations will go on to the final voting, from which we will vote on the one member we think should be acknowledge as the Member of the Month for that given month. This member will receive the prize announced and (thanks to Reptilian Feline) a "certificate" that will be posted on WHT. Prizes come from donations by the community so please donate .
Below are the rules for February 2003. These rules will be posted in every nomination thread as they are subject to change from month to month:
- Members may not nominate themselves.
- Members are allowed to make only one nomination per month.
- Only members who have registered prior to the given month are eligible. (Registered Date Must be January 31st, or earlier.
- Only members with at least 50 posts are eligible to be nominated. Changed. See note here/
- Only Members who have made a post in the Main Forums (ie outside the Lounge and No Ads) in the award month are eligible.
- Moderators are not eligible.
- Members who have won in the previously in the same year (2002 excluded) are not eligible for nomination in the current month. Currently, this includes Yupapa and UH-Matt.
- In the event of a tie, no prize will be issued.
- Nominations will begin on the final Wednesday of a month, and end 7 days thereafter, or when the nomination thread is closed (whichever comes first).
- Voting will begin on the day after the nomination period ends, and will last for 7 days, or when the poll is closed (whichever comes first).
- A Nomination must include the following:
+ MemberName with link to profile
+ Reason for nomination (and not just (s)he makes me laugh)
+ (optional) link to specific post(s)/thread(s) that are worth mentioning.
That being said, let's get on to prize information
Currently we have $33 in the WHT MOTM fund available for prizes. If you would like to donate a prize or give me ideas for prizes, please PM or email me.
If you would like to donate to the MOTM Fund, please click here to go to the PayPal Donation screen.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Now that's all outta the way....on with the nominations
Note: The Owners/Other Moderators/Administrators of WHT are in no involved in this. This is being coordinated by me, with the help of other forum members, in an effort to improve the quality of the community and give recognition where it is deserved. If you have any problems/questions/concerns, please email or PM meLast edited by Akash; 02-27-2003 at 01:12 PM.

I'm going to vote DanielP this month. Although his posts aren't the longest he makes sense (most of the time ) and is very helpful.
[EDIT]
Oh yeah, and he's been here a long time (Almost 3 years I think) and we don't have many members left from that far back.
[/EDIT]A well-reasoned assumption is very close to fact.

I nominate shaunewing
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member...o&userid=14948
He's sensible, skilled and not at all prone to sniping at people, he's honest and straightforward and if you look at his posts they are in answers to 'help' questions
he's not a forum groupie (like me)If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.0

I'd like to nominate eddy2099.

I hope he receives plenty of votes this month. In the past I never really took the time to appreciate his contribution. But in the last month or so, I have. His posts always seem to be very thoughtful and extremely helpful.
Here's a perfect example:

Good luck, Edwin.

I nominate for DanielP. He's very knowledgeable, been around for a long time - but when he posts it's very helpful and interesting.

His information in the the Domain Name forum has proven invaluable to me -- especially his updates on the RGP:

This isn't my nomination (i'm still undecided) but yes, Nameslave has given us very valuable information and seems to have taken a good deal of time in giving us his thoughts about the RGP

I would like to nominate Coach

He helps out a lot all over the place. Good information, and sorry since it isn't supposed to be a reason, but sometimes he also makes me laugh.0

Just thought about something, akash. The 100 posts rule...
Now that a lot of posts don't count anymore, how do we do it. I wanted to nominate some one, and checked the persons post count, and it was 0, but when I searched I found 3 posts.
Any thoughts?

Nomination: Zopester http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member...o&userid=26955
Because this person is helping out a lot in the web review forum. The coments seem to be helpful. Thought I'd pick someone else for a changeLast edited by Reptilian Feline; 02-27-2003 at 10:52 AM.

That being said, for this month, and possibly future months, the minimum requirement will be lowered to 50. That's about 1 post a day in the last two months so shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Good catch on the rule though, thanks0

Vito, because he not only helps people offline, but he freely gives solid advice to people he barely knows offline (he gave some great advice to a friend of mine about the Google engine in a pool hall Saturday night. Too bad my friend was too stupid to listen. )
Vito, because he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
And Vito, because he's Canadian. Is Canada the best? Noo Doot Aboot It!
