    * Named server (DNS) keeps failing every day

When I see my websites are loading slow, I need to login and re-start my DNS service and re-add an A entry for hostname.

During the time there is no A entry for hostname my server load goes sky high and it takes minutes before I can even login to WHM or even to SSH.

Re-adding A entry for hostname after restarting named service usually fix high load, but not always.

It looks DNS is not configured properly.

    Do you have any suggestion?

Ps: I am also prepared to hire someone who have knowledge to fix those DNS issues.

    Hi

If you log in via SSH then look at /var/log/messages, hopefully you'll see the named error.

If its Cpanel you could hire PSM to look at it.

    Thanks

I've checked and I got MANY lines.

    Here are a few:

    Code:
Jun 8 21:19:56 server named[23607]: the working directory is not writable
    Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: using default UDP/IPv6 port range: [1024, 65535]
Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: the working directory is not writable
    Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: zone domain1.com/IN/internal: sending notifies (serial 2009072002)
    Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: zone domain2.com/IN/internal: sending notifies (serial 2009072004)
    Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: zone domain3.org/IN/internal: sending notifies (serial 2009072002)
    Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: loading configuration from '/etc/named.conf'
Jun 9 12:20:46 server named[4978]: max open files (1024) is smaller than max sockets (4096)
    Does this make any sense?

the working directory is not writable
This flags some clue. Double check your BIND zone folders and make sure they are w/ the right permissions.

Thank you, but could you be more descriptive where folders located?

Again, I don't really mind hiring someone to fix in a proper way

If you want to hire people to fix this, you might have better luck in Systems Management Job Requests.
