Optimization is not something that is black and white. It varies from server to server based on how much cpu or memory you have, how much traffic you get, what type of traffic you get, etc. So just making some generic changes are not always going to improve it tremendously.

But have you already tried the suggestions from the link you indicated or not? I looked at them and they seem like they should help somewhat if you did not have any optimization at all before. If you did them, have you seen any improvement?

There are many contradicting things on the blog. Not very useful:

    For example

"Do NOT set it any lower then 90 as your users will start having timeout problems."

Yet the sample value has Timeout 30
Just imagine, if the world was like an online community. Where people help each other, just because they can.

ya there is a lot of different things you can do. Unless your server is control panel dependent you should try lighttpd or nginx and php-fastcgi. And use some caching methods like eaccelerator for php and memcached for mysql.

Apache can be tuned using some of the mpm modules but again there isnt many generic optimizations you can use.

I second the nginx suggestion. It's a rough learning curve sometimes, but well worth the return in performance plus if you subscribe to the nginx mailing list you can talk to the main developer himself and there is another guy on there that helps a lot of people. Their mailing list is phenomenal and so useful I don't think I have ever deleted the folder I store all the messages in.
