Well first you need to decide, do you need a windows or linux server? Second, a 64 bit operating system is typically much better with load but you will need a 64 bit processor to run it. Third, For windows you only have one main choice, but for linux I would recommend Red Hat or Cent OS

I'd say you should stick with Cent OS 5 (64 BIT) -- if you dont wanna pay.
but if you got the extra few bucks go with redhatif ($life == "fair") {exit;}else ($life = "1") {$reality_sets_in = 1;
$server_cost = relative";
$shared_host = $bye - $bye;}

I'd reccomend using a 64bit OS with 4 or more GB of RAM. PAE adds overhead with a 32 GB OS. Also you have the 2GB of RAM per process limitation in a 32 bit environment whereas I believe 64bit can allocate 8 GB to a process. Then again developers are finally getting their stuff thread and multicore friendly so who knows.

Pick whichever O/S the person who will be managing your server prefers. If you dont know what to pick you wont be managing your server obviously.

Aren't you guys reading his posts? With that config he can't have a 64 bit version.
Go with cent 5 on 32 bit. I myself bought a similar config with the same OS and control panel just last night.Cheapest Multiple C Class IP Hosting
