Why are you looking for THE MOST expensive web hosts out there? Is it because you think quality of service = price?

I don't know who the most expensive is; but you could always try going to some of the web hosting directories and reverse-sorting by price. That would get you a higher end, if not the most expensive. It's at least a starting point.
Several other threads around here have listed hosting directories, including the URLs.
I can't really be more exact than that. Different people have different concepts of "too high a price" for hosting. I've had more companies frighten me off, when I was in the market, because their prices looked too low for what they were offering, and I figured that there was some sort of catch. This was back in the days (1996-1997) before I knew a whole lot about bandwidth, resources, and how some web hosts market hosting packages to look attractive. Instinct made me take a step back.

Okay, now I feel ancient. Or just strange.0

Dishonorable mention:
Networksolutions.com - their 5-page host plan. The standard price is apparently about $130 per year but it includes a domain name. A single page is about $44/yr.
Homestead.com - Silver plan - Standard price is $109.99/yr with $20 setup. 10 page max. No domain name permitted. You'll get fewer complaints from over performing than from over promising.0

Some web designers who aren't well knowledged in the industry have prices like $20/mo for 50MB of space, I saw one site like that the other day. I wish I could remember it..

XO is the new name for Concentric Network Corp. a major corporation, if anything they are a subsidiary
Trust me, they are not resellers.

Ouch! You'd have to file for bankruptcy if your site got slashdotted...0

Pricing isn't cut and dry, the same across the board. It depends on the target audience. Some hosting companies cater to a different group of people or businesses, which makes pricing to these different groups change as well.
For little johnny or susie's homepage and pages about everquest, $20 for 50 MB is not the right price. For the e-commerce store that sells automotive parts online, this might be right in their budget and the size that they need.
