Extreme Summit 48 15000 Password Reset

I just picked up a Summit48, Model 15000. It is running ExtremeWare 2.0.19.

Does anyone know how to reset the admin password? I've found instructions for version 4.x of ExtremeWare but nothing for 2.X. In 4.x there's a 'd' option in the boot rom menu. Not so in 2.x.

I remember I had to talk to the Extreme support in order to reset a password on our extreme 48i. Try calling them.

Also, you don't want to run it on v 2.0.19. It's way too old ...

I called support, they want $500 to answer my question. I paid less than that for the switch.

Apparently you can't buy 4.x or get it from anyone legally. So this piece of hardware is technically completely useless. Unless of course someone from this board would just email it to me. <apex@forked.net>

    wow

Thats old ok so what options ARE in the 2.X bootrom ? The idea is to somehow tell it to boot with a default config, or delete the primary configuration nvram.

Can you update bootrom via xmodem or something?

In all my searching, I came to the conclusion there's nothing you can do. These things probably keep getting sold and then resold on Ebay, who is making a fortune out of the deal

lol chock another company up to trying to get a lost password protected summit up and running. Only we didn't pay for it thank god. Anyone try brute force yet? Is there a lockout to the lockout mechanism if so many failed passwords are attempted?

BTW, to get the password reset is now $200.

This is a good article too:

    might work.
