    Best Resellers in Los Angeles?

I'm looking for affordable resellers for colocation in southern california. Please let me know of any high quality resellers in LA. (High quality bandwidth, low price) I'm looking to leave my current colo provider due to constant DOS attacks to their network that makes my servers ping upwards of 200ms with 50% packet loss.
    Thanks.

    Luckmaster,

I would recommend looking at Mzima networks as far as your bandwidth goes, now you won't pay $80/mbit for this, anywhere, more like $125/mbit at a low commit, if not maybe $135 or so. However this is HIGH quality bandwidth.

Two companies I know now provide this :

    1) corporate colo (corporatecolo.com I think?)
    2) insider hosting (insiderhosting.com)

Either of these colo facilities can provide you with solid bandwidth at a decently low price.

If you want to look more towards cheap than quality, take a look at uscolo.com, they might be able to provide you with mzima bandwidth cross connects if you wanted. However, I do know their prices are much lower.

Dedicated servers are much easier to provide premium services at a low price with as you are speaking of.

Well, I'm looking for about 4-5U and about 3-4mbps. I've seen this, mzimahosting.com. I saw an offer for 1/4 rack and 5mbps for $600. Is that about as cheap as I would be able to find it with my requirements? Thank you.
    Rene

PS I looked at both those websites you posted and can't seem to find anything to do with colocation. I'll contact sales and ask but do you know of their colocation page?

I just did a trace from my work here in Los Angeles. They have sbc business DSL. For some reason, i go thru SF in the trace to mzima in LA. I would have thought with all their providers, they would have been able to route me locally.

its still only 30ms and it is quite possible that sbc refuses to peer with them. a lot of baby bells can be quite retentive that way.

I understand that 30ms isn't that bad, but we do game server hosting and ping is everything. If you have the lowest ping, you are "where it's at". 30ms definitely isn't the best around. I currently get 9ms to where i'm colo'd, from SBC at work. However, due to their network issues, I want to find something comparable, but without the network problems.

Talking Cheap is not "Where it's at"

If you want to be "Where it's at" you'll need to be willing to spend more.

True Premium bandwidth almost always comes at a Premium price.

Luckmaster, take a look at :

    http://stats.lunarpages.com/smokepin.../smokeping.cgi

Especially look at the Broadband ISPs section, note that is a 100% nonbias stat site but is hosted on Mzima bandwidth

You will _not_ find better bandwidth than mzima in Los Angeles.

I live close to LA and have servers in LA and Im also being sent to SF........... And my server is not on Mzima bandwidth, in fact EVERYTHING that I ping that is in LA goes to SF.

Im also on SBC DSL, the phone company is up to something, this is not a Mzima issue.

Try tracing this then 2guns. You won't go to SF. 216.240.136.174. SBC stays in LA when going to williams, above.net or level3. There's probably more, but I know SBC stays local with those 3.

Well, Try XO in Irvine. Or Internap if they're in LA.

Luckmaster, so basically SBC probably uses one of those three providers in the LA, and they have peering/transit with the rest in SJ/SF area.

Either way, you are basically stuck finding a provider with level3 (calpop?) , MFN, or Williams (um..yeah sure..) or you get a new provider. It's mostly not any certain transit providers fault, SBC refuses to peer with them, this isn't there fault.

    Internap is in LA.

Anybody know of any colo resellers in LA that have at least one of these carriers? Thanks.
By the way, calpop no longer has level3. Their Level3 reseller dumped them for being a "spam house". They do however have williams, but they get attacked a lot. I'm actually colo'd with them and have way too many problems. That's why I'm looking to get out

rusko..you haven't dealt with CalPOP, I never understood how they had level3 to begin with...

If I'm not mistaken though, they are the level3 reseller. I'm not sure who they would be purchasing from if I'm wrong.

    Lightbulb

SBC/PacHell is not "up to something" - for a change.

SBC was only cleared to offer voice and data across the US last year. They are in the process of building their own nation wide network. It will take time for them to establish peering throughout the country. Until recently, PBI was purchasing transit from Sprint.

Calpop is one of the most clueless and dishonest providers on the planet. Avoid at all costs. Do a search on this and the dedicated forum for more info.

AFAIK, Mzima just sold off its colo business to focus on being a transit provider. They are expanding and should be adding additonal peers soon.

Dragoon, do you know who Mzima sold their colo business off to? I can't find anything about it on their website.
