    Cheapest 10Mbps?

Any suggestions on what the cheapest 10Mbps providers are? Hardware doesn't matter a lot---I'd be just serving HTTP downloads (non-adult) and I can run something lighter than Apache such as thttpd.

Here's what I've found so far:

    $0 setup, $80/mo, Celeron 1GHz, 512 MB RAM, 20 GB IDE/9 GB SCSI
    http://www.nocster.com/unmetered.shtml

    $100 setup, $80/mo (3 months advance), Celeron 2GHz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB IDE
    http://www.hivelocity.net/Plans/Dedi...unmetered1.asp

The Nocster plan seems better for me (no setup fee; no requirement to pay for 3 months) since hardware doesn't matter. Any other hosts I should look at?

I think the plans you have found are about as low as it will get with a trusted provider.

i wouldnt advise you to look at the cheapest..

whats the use of having the cheapest when the server is down 24/7 or speeds are totally crap?

(i am NOT talking about nocster or hivelocity but in general about cheapness compared to quality)

you would be wiser to pay a bit more for a SLA and make sure that you can have a decent connection

The Nocster unmetered plan isn't a guaranteed unmetered, while HiVelocity is. Look at the description of the plans on the middle of the Nocster page. Nocster is managed, while HiVelocity isn't though.

Then why not guarantee they will get it?

Mavweb. Pushed the full port for a few days straight - image hosting.

I was going to go with noc but I turned out not needing a server.

Will these servers be able to handle constant 10mbs uploading of videos?

You should, at the very least, have the class to not include your sig when raggin' on another unmetered company

Ah, I just remembered that Nocster gives a 25% discount to its resellers.

Are there any good Nocster resellers cheaper than server4sale?

That would mean they'd have to guarantee to provide it, and charging that at those prices could A. Work against them and B. Cause more issues as supplying on a 'best effort' basis allows room to say 'The network is congested'.

For the price and the service, if you get 10mbps, money well spent. If not, hey, read the policy

Dont confuse your self with Nocster Unmetered TEST product line with Actual 10MBps. There is a huge cost difference in Price. If you look at nocster 10mbps plan which starts from $250 or so do provide 10Mbps guaranteed

Managed-dot-com is currently offering dedicated servers with 10mbps uplink speed for 84.95 USD, though I believe there were 69.95 USD ones about a few months ago. However, you could also check out the VPS, which are priced at 44.95 USD for a uplink speed of 10mbps too. Though if you want to get a server, why not pay a little more for a 100mbps connection and give your server much more power?

There is quite a price difference between 10 Mbit and 100 Mbit connections...

    << uplink speed of 10mbps >>

We are not talking about uplink speeds here, we are speaking about bandwidth allocations. All servers "uplink" to 10MBPS or 100MBPS switches these days. We are discussing 10MBPS bandwidth allocations and Unmetered servers with 10MBPS here...

Are you talking about your unmetered customers? Because if you are talking about your 10mbps dedicated customers, it's deceiving in a thread that asked about unmetered customers.

To clarify then, can your unmetered customers expect 10mbps as you suggest here:

For the record I ended up purchasing the nocster server mentioned in my first post through the server4sale reseller ($75/mo). Paid 2 days ago, got my password to the ticket system, haven't gotten the server yet though.

Leaseweb has a decent range of 10 Mbps unmetered. They're very cheap and reliable. I've got 2 servers with them @69 euros monthly. Recommended.

I must be missing soemthing on: http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php?p=dedicatedvolume as I dont see them being any cheaper than HV (and thier site has a worse layout as far as information goes than HV site)

I got my password on the third day. Looks good; only complaint is that they didn't configure the server to work with all of the IPs that it had been assigned. I tried to do it myself but I forgot to change the "DEVICE=eth0" line when I copied /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-eth0:0 so I locked myself out of the server, but they got that fixed fairly promptly.

I noticed a company that's $16 cheaper: HostFresh at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=460217 is offering $59/mo ($30 setup, no contract) 10Mbps server in Hong Kong. It's a relatively unproven provider though, and the location in Hong Kong may be a disadvantage to sites that primarily service US/Canada visitors. (In my case I don't care about latency, only throughput, since it's for downloads.)
