    Optimizing images

One of my hosting clients has website that is all graphics and she's using 10gigs of bandwidth a month. I told her she needs to get rid of most of those images, but she won't. Is there a way to optimize the images so she won't use so much bandwidth?
    Thanks!

10gb of bandwidth per month is tiny, in comparison I use about 30-40gb per day and I'm nowhere near hitting the relatively low bandwidth quota for the server per-month.

What's your reasoning behind wanting her to get rid of the images?

Either way - how big are the images and what format are they in? In most situations you can just re-save in Photoshop as "High Quality" (aka JPEG quality 60) and it'll drop the file size down noticeably, without too many visible compression artifacts.

Well it depends on what graphics she is using.

I can think of a few options:
    1. Can you get rid of some of the graphics and replace them with HTML/CSS?
    2. If the images are in PNG format, try running them through PNGCRUSH.
    3. Check the headers that are being sent with the images to ensure that they are being cached properly.
    4. Check to see if any of the images can be combined into sprites, this could save round-trips to the server (unless she's only getting a few hits).

10GB of bandwidth in a month is very little - especially for an image host.

While image compression could be possible, if this level of bandwidth is "costing" you, i would highly suggest reviewing your hosting options.

    Hello.

We <<snipped>> use Google Page Speed suggestion.

All images are optimized, image have expiration date etc. Check Page Speed.

I am hosting her site for free which was suppose to be short term to help her get started, she initially just had one page, then she increased it to several pages all full of graphics. No matter anymore because she let her domain expire and wants a new domain name. Thanks for your replies everyone.

    I understood your problem

Use header and footer file. so that you can avoid repeat loading.
Use photoshop to optimize all your website images.
