Trying to SSH to my server results in Windows Error 11004 and no login
I am using Bitvise Tunnelier as my SSh client and it has been working like a charm until today.
When I tried to SSH to my server root I got this message:
Connection failed. error resolving connect-to address: gethostname () failed:Windows error 11004: the requested name is valid, but no data of the type was found
Is this a local computer problem or a server problem.
What is the fix in either case?
ThanksMel Nelson

Are you using a linux machine ( i.e., your system) to connect through SSH or putty?

Sounds like a problem on your local machine. Try downloading and using PuTTY and verify that you can make a connection.
You can download it here. Good luck.

Ohh hmm. That sounds like your .bashrc or .bash_profile might have errors in them or incorrect user/permissions. Can you SSH in with another user/password?

Try connecting without entering a username in putty, and putting the username and password in after the ssh console has opened.
