It's easy to say "upgrade now", but WP updates often break sites.
Sometimes the security issues are not even important -- for example, if you don't allow logins by other users, wp-admin is password protected, and the comment system is disabled (and code for it removed at the core).
Some of us actually monitor issues piecemeal. In fact, I've patched WordPress myself, and am using a unique fork of my own for some sites. It's been stripped down, and third-party libraries/objects receive updates as needed. The code is far, far, far too customized to be updated willynilly.

I upgraded all of my WordPress sites today. The WordPress 3.3.2 update did not break anything in any of my sites.

Interesting. I had some 3.3.1 core and 3.4x bleeding compromised last month (honeypots, put there to be compromised) via uploads, no one believed it. Yet, here is a fix for Plupload.
WP fanboys were coming out of the woodwork saying it was "impossible" that a base 3.3.1 with default plugins and themes was hacked. They probably thought that back in 07/08 also
Live. Learn. I guess.
My svn's ran smooth on both UGs, btw. No issues, no db updates.
Wasn't it Oracle that learned the hard way from saying they were unhackable? Nothing is unhackable. This is the best signature in the world....Tribute!

Upgrading wordpress won't ever break a well coded websites ! your website will break only if it is using : very old or bad coded template , old plugin, tweaked wordpress version.
I upgraded all of my websites and no issues at all.██ The Wordpress developer ██ Modem Router

I am getting tired of that to be honest.
It's not as simple as that to update all the time. I have a few WP blogs with some extensions, templates and other tools if I want to stay up to date, I need a full time employee. Every update, something is a broken.Enterprise Consultant

I wouldn't say that is true. Often it doesn't break sites. We've been upgrading 1000+ WordPress sites for customers for years and only about 2 sites break when it is upgraded.
--
Yes that is correct but this time it is an important upgrade... just like last time too.
That's nice an all but I can't image manually upgrading 1,000+ sites, just to have to do it again when the next version of WordPress comes out. That's a lot of man hours for re-inventing the wheel.
The recent upgrade took us under 1 hour for 1,000+ WordPress site. Manually upgrading those installs with your own patch could take days, weeks or maybe months.

Sorry, but that's a pile of baloney.
There are quite a few very advanced integrations that can be done with WordPress and other apps, but you'll end up version-locked because of it. WordPress' team takes months to properly code out new versions, yet some people expect users to magically re-code a complex site within mere days?

Don't get me wrong ! i was talking about regular websites using Wordpress as CMS.
A major update to the WordPress code and the changes will break some of your plugins and may even break your theme.
Everytime wordpress announce an update, they publish a clear changelog with all bugs fixed, deprecated and new functions ! So if i have a complex website or app i will let my Dev team fix any possible problem before i make that update.██ The Wordpress developer ██ Modem Router

Upgrades within WordPress 3 have been smooth sailing. I believe it was the upgrade from WP2 to WP3 last year that effected a few, but again depends on what was done within the core code...which you don't want play with anyways.

The need to bring in a better wordpress default theme. Default theme leaves a bad impression of those who are new to Wordpress.

I've heard some hosts are sending out emails warning their customers about the security holes in the old Wordpress version and urging them to upgrade.
