What does everyone else think about a new host using stolen software?
Do you think this is generally accepted in the webhosting industry, or any industry for that matter?0

Is it the hosts or the web designers?

Interesting, we had some problems with vistapages just recently.
It looks like they stole our new account welcome e-mail format and forgot to remove a few of our e-mail address links so we had their clients contacting us requesting help/refunds all of the time.
I guess this doesn't surprise me either.0

Even if they use the "we hired a webmaster" excuse I still wouldn't buy into it. Companies still have an obligation to verify they're using legal software, regardless of who they hired to set it up. In this case a simple printed invoice from the original software maker would be sufficient.
MIND Justin how'd you figure this out exactly?
WN-Ali no kidding, wow. But I guess it looks more "inspired by" since the HTML and CSS style sheets are quite different. If you have to operate your company behind the scenes or under a fake name, maybe it's time to leave the industry and start something fresh.0

Well, I spoke with Vista first and their manager is awaiting an e-mail from me. So I will see type of bull I get first.
Make sure you take screenshots of that page.0

We were unaware of this pirated software installation on our servers. We pay for our licenses with any software that we use, cPanel, SiteStudio, etc. Our system admins are removing this from our servers and also will be re-activating with PHPLive. Should be removed by the time I am finished writing this.

VP-Kaumil,
Are you going to be paying them for all of the six months that you've stolen from them?
That would be the honest thing to do...0

If they request it, sure, I see why not, by the way I am Sandip not Kaumil. Thanks.

VP-Kaumil,
Ah - I had kept watch on your forums and noticed VP-Sandip was renamed to VP-Kaumil, I assumed you were going to do the same here on WebHostingTalk just to update everyone.0

Kaumil is part of the VistaPages team. I also have not used the VistaPages forum. So you telling me that we switched usernames is absurd
Thanks.0

Did you expect a host who offers 5000mb web space and 110gb transfer for $4.95 a month to be honest?

Be careful with your sterotypes.Kevin0

Oh my, that is hillarious.
The reason I ask if Sandip and that K name are related is because they have the same last name.0

This issue is been resolved with the involved parties. VistaPages does not participate in piracy, and every effort was made to remove illegitimate software. -- It has already been removed within minutes of it being brought to our attention, and are in the process of speaking with PHPLive.
Yes, Kaumil and I are related. But that has nothing to do with anything. I never knew it was a crime to go into business with family.
Thank you.0

VP-Kaumil,
Have OSI Codes been paid?
If not I personally don't see the issue as resolved.
Hopefully you watch your server software (kernels and whatnot) better than you keep an eye open on your own "purchased" software!0
