TacoBell Meat - Is it really worms?
I was talking with a co-worker today who swears that TacoBell's meat is made up of worms. She claims that they own a number of worm farms across the US and does this to keep thier prices low. I did some searching on the web but could not find any info on this topic. Does anyone know if this could possibly true? I dont think it could be but I wanted to double check...
Thanks in advance...

No, it's not true.
At least it wasn't a decade ago when I worked there in high school.

I heard the meat Taco Bell uses is some of the worst meat in fast food. But no one who wants to eat healthy gets fast food anyway!
I doubt they use worms, but I wouldn't be too surprised.

I highly doubt it. If word ever got out that they were using worms, it would equate to business suicide.

Regardless of where or how they obtained enough worms to supply all their restaurants, they would cost a heck of a lot more than any kind of meat. Try buying worms for fishing bait or even buying the stuff to make a worm farm. I believe they sell large amounts of worms for some kind of soil improvements but even they would cost more than meat.
I certainly wasn't implying that anyone actually believed this stuff, I just thought I'd comment on the validity.

Ugh. That is so gross. i wont be eating there again, thats for sure.
We make my own green chili for our burritos and tacos, we have no need for Taco Bell. However, their seasoning mix isnt bad...g.

Welcome to Toxic Bell, may we have your order?
And there is Jack in the Crack. I remember one night our local JIB got terrorised by high schoolers celebrating the summer off and really messed up the dining room area. One of the managers was in our ham radio club and offered a few of us free food if we helped clean the place up since the 2 employees going off duty had to catch a bus.73's, Kim

Taco Bell is actually one of the very few vegetarian-friendly fast food places out there - if you order their stuff without meat.

Well let's consider what meat is made out of. In the U.S. manufacturers are allowed to use soybean/meat mix and put on the box 100% pure beef.
Let's look at bologna and hot dogs. They are made out of what's left after all the good beef is taken. The guts, organs, skin, marrow, sex organs, brain, etc, etc. Manufacturers and buyers can also claim this 100% pure beef.
I drove 48 for a while pulling a refrigerated rig for Lisa (FFE) and would ship this stuff. Huge vats of it ground up. Looked like tons of potted meat if you have ever seen it. McDonalds also buys this stuff for their patties.
Beef in stores - worn out milk cows. There's tons of them retiring every day.
Dog food - really wanna know? Worn out milk cows, and cattle and other animals that died out in the field. If you see a dead cow out there one day, and it's gone the next. It's on a truck heading for a dog food cannery, bloat and everything.

I know that every food place isn't perfect, but they there are those who try and live up to the standards of the health department.
I've talked personally to David Novak's sister who is owner of Yum Foods and owner of Long John Slivers, KFC, etc and would be happy to email him ( he was suppose to orginally email me) and ask him if Taco Bell's meat is made out of worms, but I highly doubt it since it looks more like beef or maybe mixed in with soy or something else.Kerry Jones

Ok, guess I should have checked. The position I said he was, I guess that was early 90's, late 80's. Somewhere around that. I only knew it because of some sort of extra business course I had taken and there was the "who's who" chart..

Yikes. One time at our local Hardees's a woman had maggots in her milk shake. Hardee's had to pay her a lot of money.
