A game server user should be concerned with the main backbone connections of the gsp, good customer support, low pings, etc

powergsp has pretty much nailed it...
Low Latency being a number 1 concern, support you can always get from a simple google search if you cant wait more then an hour or so to a response from a support ticket.
To get good low latency dont go with the cheapest host. you get what you pay for.
good luck.
TIP: stick to an area close to your target audience e.g if your a player in the UK, get a server in the UK.

Game server hosting as a fairly high startup cost if you want to do it the "right way".
Game server hosting requires low latency. To achieve this, you need to be on top quality networks. You also need to have multiple locations. Multiple locations + multiple servers = expensive.

he/she said they wanted to be a gaming server user...not a GSp.
so it wouldnt cost them that much.
just get one dedicated box with a very good provider and your do well hosting your gaming servers on that.
however to be a gsp yes more then 1 server would be ideal. unless its a very high spec box to make profit.
