Question Number of users on Top 'command' is acting weird

    Hello,

I recently just logged on to my server through ssh, ran the 'Top' command, and I saw 27 Users. This is weird while I am the only user. I checked on the systemlog, and it looks fine, nothing unusual.

Then I opened a second terminal window, ran the top command again, the number of users increased to 28. But When I closed that second terminal window, the number of users isn't decreased, still at 28. Then I opened many windows and closed them yet the number of users is not decreasing ever.

The last time I logged on, the users is normal. Only 1, and incresing when a new terminal opened, decreasing when the terminal closed.

Anyone have an Idea of what this is? I hope this is not something crucial.

    Thanks.

Did you run "who" see who's logged in? if they were your own sessions or not.

Just hit "w" and see who's about.

    Hitting 'w' won't do anything...

Anyway I went to webmin > system > processes > display: users

and there are only 10 users, 1 root and 9 system users, yet the top command displaying 35 users.

    Isn't that odd...

Running the command "w" will show you who is logged and what they're doing - that's got to count for something!
