Burton Hosting Totally Unresponsive?
Has anyone had any more luck getting a response to either tickets or emails from Burton Hosting since the last thread here, which is months old? Our uptime remains decent, but with absolutely no responses to tickets (we have many outstanding by now) or emails (both to the standard network and support addresses and to individuals personally), and their phones disconnected, we of course are very concerned, and will probably be forced to look for a new host (I just hate the hassle!!) when our contract expires next month.
I did find in another forum posts about a Virante Marketing fiasco in which Burton was falsifying reviews, etc.---this does NOT sound like the Burton I knew before.
While we have exploratory emails out to DreamHost and a few others, I was hoping someone here would know a way to contact Burton---I just hate not knowing!

Are you sure they weren't bought out by someone? These days hosting companies are bought and sold left and right.

I can't say I've heard of them selling up - Are you sure your tickets are being submitted?
Now might be a good time to make sure you have a full backup of your site!

Have you tried to contact them by Live Chat? I see they have Live Chat icon on their web site.

Thank you all for the replies. No, the US phone numbers listed (still) on their contact page have been disconnected for a year now. The Live Chat is "offline" for longer than that. The tickets are acknowledged by the bot ("we've received your ticket and will respond shortly") but there's never a response---the tickets just pile up, showing "awaiting response". Their forums have been taken down.
And no, I don't think they were bought out---if they were, wouldn't they notify their customers? Indicate it on their website?
Just very weird after SUCH a good reputation previously---they were one of the best small hosts going.

Dan's right, I'd get a backup immediately. The reason I say that, it can get worse, a lot worse. It seems like they are shutting down. When they stop paying their server bill, the server will be cut off too. With everything showing the signs of shutting down, I'd move to a new host now, I wouldn't wait. You never when the server will be taken down.

Same problems here with Burton, after many many years of near flawless service and great support when it did glitch.
To make matters worse, a number of their boxes are failing page checks on getmesupport.com/burtonhosting , including one holding serveral of my sites. I have ftp backups, but can't get into mysql to dump the latest datasets

Also, does anyone have recommendations about how to retrieve control of domains registered through Burton?

Just an update since I started this thread. No word from Burton. Their server farm guy told me they were only paid through July, so I had to finally and reluctantly jump ship and went to another host two days ago.
I wish somehow I could get some information on what happened, even though we've moved on. We were lucky that our contract just coincidentally was up in August; I really feel badly for those who are paid up for much longer, if the servers aren't renewed.
Good luck to all who were affected, and thanks to the people here who tried to help.

Hi,
Just to counter the claims made here - we're still here, but we've had some support desk issues which we've communicated to the customers who were waiting for a response (for which we've now cleared the backlog) that have been ongoing for some time.
Please feel free to submit a helpdesk ticket at http://support.burtonhosting.com/ if you have any questions or would like any reassurances.
Thanks,

Glad to see you surface, Matt. While we all can understand "busy" and "tech glitch", some of us have waited almost a year for a response, and a number of UK users left numerous phone messages as well (and the U.S. phones are disconnected though they still appear on the website). Some other posts around the web:
http://www.webhostingstuff.com/revie...onHosting.html - another 8 reviews with the same experience we've had
http://www.gmunchkin.com/2008/01/bur...g-service.html - rave review followed by angry responses
and the two about the Virante marketing ploy:

http://www.webpronews.com/tag/burton-hosting
I hope you are able to clear all this up, and wish you luck! Thank you for responding here.

Burton Hosting Still Totally Unresponsive!
The claim Burton Hosting said in the last message:
"Just to counter the claims made here - we're still here, but we've had some support desk issues..."
we believe is not true.
We are a customer of Burton Hosting for more than 5 years. We have just renew our subscription last month, to find out that our account was then unaccessible. It's been almost a week now, our support ticket requests, emails, and calls are not answered.
We really don't know what to do now. We lost our important customers and emails. We couldn't even get and move our latest website data/domain account to new hosting.
We are searching on the website to find out people experiencing the same issue as us.
Can anybody please give us advise, what can we do in this issue? How can we get our important data currently hosted in Burton Hosting? Thanks.

Please email me and let me know the domain in question and I'm happy to look into this. I can't see any tickets awaiting a response any where near that long and no servers are down.
