What was your very first computer?

Mine was the Commodore 64 back around 1983. I loved that computer, and had some good memories from that time. Like running a BBS on my parents home phone line ("evenings only" ). I remember faking I was sick one day back in grade 8, and I stayed home and played Castle Wolfenstein all day!

A blazing 10Mhz? 640K ram? 40MB hard drive? How much did those specs set you back? :-O

(I'm betting it did cost a lot at the time!)

    -Mike

P.S. My first computer came later... 133Mhz tower. It seemed so fast back then, too!

First I ever toyed around on was a 386/25-33 (with a Turbo button and 4MB of RAM!); played Lemmings on it all day. Next I had a Fujitsu Pentium/60 (with the infamous FDIV bug), with a whopping 16MB RAM and a 540MB HD. This was sometime in '98; I couldn't even fit the contents of a CD on that thing. The next "upgrade" was to a different case+CPU, a P133 without MMX and the same components as the last one (mobo fried on the P/60). This was up to around 2001, when I got a P3/800, and went through several other boxes after that.

Actually I had a TI 99 at one point as well. I remember buying it from K-Mart when it was on special.

The first pc here was a pentium 75.
4MB ram, 1gb HDD, I remember playing the first version of "need for speed" on it (the "road & track" version http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nee...ed_(video_game) )

It's amazing that my htc cell phone has more power than that first pc had.

It was an old Fujitsu. 233mhz processor, 32mb RAM, onboard graphics card, probably 1mb or something, 100mb disk space, and it ran Windows 98SE. hahah

    An Acorn Electron...

At its peak, the Electron was the third best selling micro in the United Kingdom, and total lifetime game sales for the Electron exceeded those of the BBC Micro. There are at least 500 known games for the Electron and the true total is probably in the thousands...

I'm sure it was around 1980...

The Commodore 64 was my first computer and it was great but I was only like 6 or 8 years old, I remember sitting down with a programming book and typing for hours just to get some silly little game to play. I was about 15 or 16 when i got my hands on an Amiga 500/ A500 I loved it, It freakin rocked probably the best computer I ever owned the damn thing ran for like 10 years it never had a problem. Now a few thousand computers/servers later I still loved that damn Amiga o ya all the free software you ever wanted.

My first computer for my family we got when I was 5, back in '93.

Initially it had a 486, which we upgraded a few years later to a pentium 100mhz to play Lego Island and Red Alert

I cant remember how much ram it had, or its hard disk capacity initially but it maxed out at 64 mb of ram before we retired it, along with an old Diamond Monster 3D 3dfx card. We did the OS hop from 3.1 to 95 to 98 as well.

As for my own personal build, my grandfather ran a computer shop and let me build a box to keep. I was initially worried because i wanted an uber strong pentium, and i'd never heard of that weird amd company. It was a K6 350mhz, 128mb ram, SIS 8mb video card, 8gb hard drive.

Misticil, you brought back memories when you mentioned lego island the game. I remember having that play for the kids that used to live in the neighborhood. That was one of the most fantasy filled games you could get on the PC that would just blow there minds away.
