Why you don't ask where's the most expensive one?

    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=460439

To answer you question - yes, it's yahoo domains, at the moment. Please be aware, however:

    - Offer expires on 12/31/2005;
    - The control panel you'll get from them is somewhat limited.

    Good luck!

However, Yahoo domains is the best choice to get CHEAP first 5 years for your personal domains. After 60 days you're free to transfer them to registrar of your dreams.

But, here the thing I want is just to buy cheapest domain name, i.e. register it. That's it. I think the "Cheapest is not always best" is not the case here...

Depends what you want to do with the domain. I recall reading on WHT about many people having problems transferring domains out of Yahoo, because they use that shady (IMO) registrar down in Australia.

Anyone with more time on their hands care to post details?

How did you know about that I can transfer after 60 days?
I was also thinking for private domain registration... Do you think it's important? Of course I'd not like my data to be readable for everyone.

If something will go wrong with your order and you'll have nowhere to write and nobody to call, you'll change your opinion quite quickly. There are too many horror stories around to read... Remember old saying: "cheap meat is for the dogs". Or, in English: you get what you pay for.

Accoding to ICANN rules, you can transfer your domain elsewhere not earlier than 60 days after registration or previous successfull transfer.

I was not talking about private registration/whois, but about registration of private domains (i.e. not intended for sale/business use).

Melbourne IT is one of the most respected registrars out there. If you have different opinion, please do us a favour and share with us something to backup your post.

    Thank you.

I always use GoDaddy. They have a great control panel, and they have a $2 domain when you get any other service to go along with it. I wouldn't use Yahoo, because when you renew it the rates will be higher again...

    Hi all!
At last I made a choice of NameCheap. Registered 3 domains. I didn't go with Yahoo. After I have read some posts, think I'll have troubles in future with Yahoo.
    Thanks all for advice.

eNom's main business is with resellers, so in order not to interfere with them, they're keeping their street prices high and reseller prices low. You can get a free 8.95 eNom's account from various members of this board. 6.95 account, however, will cost you around USD200-250 - search domain offers/request forum here or eBay.

Just a warning: if you're from Kyrgystan, eNom will NOT take your credit card or even Paypal account as the payment. You'll have to pay either by wire transfer or check.

    Good luck!

Thanks, but I registered 3 domains with my Virtual Card (MasterCard) with no problem. Maybe I could also register with eNom without problems.

No. eNom just wouldn't let you to credit your account from your IP.

Anyway, you've made a VERY good choice going with NameCheap. Althought they are resellers of eNom, they have no eNom's geographical limitations.
