Does Web Hosting Talk support SOPA supporting companies?
I mean their domain is registered with Godaddy.
What does that tell me.0

Maybe thats because they aren't pathetic enough to throw their dummy out of the pram? Moving a domain isn't always a smooth process, hardly worth the risk for iNet I'd guess. Seems like a pointless attack on WHT.
If they put a sticker up saying 'we don't support SOPA' would that shut the crowd up? It's a neutral community.0

Hello,
To be honest, it is not going to change WHT if it were hosted with GoDaddy or enom. Support for SOPA was purely a message given by GoDaddy, not WHT. Most of the Web Hosting industry and WHT have both clearly stated that they do not support SOPA
I also hate to say, that if you turn on your TV, Buy Cable, Buy Internet, Watch a Movie or buy an electronic, then you are also supporting companies who support SOPA. This list includes Universal Media Group, RIAA, Sony and the list goes on0

Most companies support whatever laws are out there. Conforming is easier than complaining.

Of course they did. What difference does it make? If they oppose it they don't support it. Sheesh. No one asked or cared about the motives of those that opposed it at the beginning.

It makes a big difference. You dont normally go from a "Strong Supporter of SOPA" to the opposition in a matter of hours. This is why some companies pulled their domain from GoDaddy over a week after they changed their mind (XDA, Wikipedia, slashdot, etc) .
Their reason for changing their mind was strictly to save face and avoid loosing more customers.0

sopa is something that would totally screw up communities like this. entire inet and its network of sites would get hit hard when sopa comes, since they are generally made of user generated content. not to mention that, who they cater to, are those who would be hit by sopa harder - small hosts, developers, programmers, publishers.
sopa is something that would basically take down our sector 5-10 pegs down.
anything necessary to oppose it, should be done. including ditching companies being dillydally about opposing it.
godaddy surely supports sopa. in the end, that guy has been running godaddy to rise it up and then sell it out - in precise dot com style of 2000s. he is also the reason why hosting prices and domain prices got down to ridiculously infeasible levels - started that trend.
it was mentioned in wht that (during its ipo discussion) goddady has never showed profit in its income statement up till this date. go figure.0

What the hec does that mean? Until recently he's been running it since 1997. Did I miss it?

he's trying to go ipo or sell out.
That's the way I try to get my statements settled. Please provide link to this statement that you have knowledge about. I'd like to check it out.
This decision comes after the best quarter in the company’s history. During the 2nd quarter, The Go Daddy Group Inc. had GAAP revenue of $56,985,000, a net accounting loss of $733,000 and positive cash flow from operations of $14,240,000.

Why should I? I am not the one making the claim or referring to a nebulous source. Its easy to sling accusations. Now back them up.

One thing you'll find out quickly about unity
he/she/it doesn't back anything up. His own sources are more reliable than anyone you could possibly quote and mean everything he/she/it interprets them to say even if they say the exact opposite.
Trying to get unity to see reality is a waste of time. Plenty have tried and failed. Just ignore him/her/it, it's better for everyone, including yourself.Tom Whiting, WHMCS Guru extraordinaire

It was proven a while back that when GoDaddy stated their support for SOPA that despite thousands of people pulling their domains, they actually GAINED MORE domains! The general population DOESN'T CARE ABOUT SOPA and they will get their domains from the most recognizable brand, which is unfortunately GoDaddy.

back up what ? back up the 15 year old 'bloat it, and sell it' dot com business model ?
i dont understand what you need backing up ? or are you just screwing around ?
godaddy never posted profit ? its there. their best quarter was the year they made minimum loss.
how hard is it to understand what's below
“Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Go Daddy hasn’t had a profitable year since it was founded in 1997. Last year, it had a net loss of $11.6 million.” Two months after my story appeared, GoDaddy pulled its planned IPO The company’s loquacious founder Bob Parsons was mad at the financial press for focusing too much on the company’s lack of profits which he blamed on overly conservative accounting rules and not its positive cash flow.
you know, noone is obliged to update any random person about these things.0

I am too busy trying to find your outrage when technology-focused buyout firm Vector Capital sold Register.com to Web.com last year. So far I can't......But when a private person wants to sell his 15-year old business, out come the jack boots. Fortunately businesses in this country are not regulated according to your irrational wants
