Live Chat Software
I know the hotly debated what is the best live chat software has come up a few times, but what about these new ones that include these new XMPP/jabber "open" solutions.
No more being locked down to the windows only application many good (great) old software still holds to heart (kayako grr).
So:
zopim
olark
oggchat
The above three seem very good in their own ways, but none of them let you host it on your own server or offer an owned licenses solution. Huge let down imo, anyone know of anything reasonable?
p.s. I found one which lets you host and buy it our right for $400 (rip off) for only a basic function of a webform and XMPP backend. The interface looks pathetic and so does their website.
Regards.

I use LiveZilla for live support and for me as long as the visitor can pop up an window and talk to me ... I can do support.

Shameful, no one actually read. We've been with Kayako for over 3 years, but their live support is still a windows only application even after our request 3 years ago and I'm assuming many more from others.
That's why these new XMPP/Jabber based chat software is of interest.
Regards.

Hi Andrew,
May I ask why you are interested to host the live chat software on your own servers?
Thanks.

Livezilla has always been my app of choice for webchats. Its easy to setup, easy to teach, and most importantly, easy for the client to figure out.

Check into Openfire -- http://www.igniterealtime.org/projec...fire/index.jsp
It is a xmpp/jabber based chat server... Also open source/free
Works rather well, we used to use it.

I would recommend banckle live chat, we are currently using it and find it great for what we need to do! it comes with a free year license and can all be fully customised! we also use it because it intergrates well with wordpress and will automatically add the code into our site.

Yup, I'd vouch for Kayako and LiveZilla. However Kayako is expensive but more advanced whereas LiveZilla is free (I hope it still is ) and is basic. Though both of them do well in terms of providing clients a Live Chat service.

Personally, I like Livezilla. It is very extensive for a free support system.

We use clickandchat.com - it's a great price, and decent GUI.

We are looking to use providesupport.com. We tested it out and it looks great. I would check it out if I were you.

I use Livezilla. It is very reliable and easy to setup. Only uses a bit of bandwidth.
