Colo DC in New York
Hi!
Could anyone advise up on the good quality colocation service dc in New York or the surroundings? New Jersey would be fine as well.
I'd appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

Thank you
Thanks a lot. Their website looks like a very valuable one. I also liked the one you sign with.
I am working on finding out the best service,
Is there any other DC in the area? There are most likely not less than 20-30 DC's around there.
I suppose you gave me the best one. Still, could you advise up on any others?

It would help narrow the recommendations down if you were a little more specific about what you are looking for.
Do you need 2U of space, or 25 racks in an open cage?
Do you need 1 mbps or 10 gbps of bandwidth?
etc

I'll fourth the Voxel recommendation. Sam and crew know what they're doing and do it well!

I will be a bit more specific
We need to buy the full rack. We will start buying from 10 mbps and will add bandwidth and power supply merely as the server number grows.
We're also interested in high qualification of their network specialists.
I just didn't see the pricing per:
-rack
-IP address
-server
And mainly, there isn't anything said about the rack space sales.
They give only three pricing options here http://www.voxel.net/voxrox-wholesale
Is this really true that they deploy servers in just two hours? This sounds just fantastic.
And I was also looking at http://www.atlanticmetro.net/colocation
There isn't much info on it. I couldn't also find the page with prices for their machines.
I guess I will need to talk to them guys via phone to find out all of the stuff they provide.
I would also gladly listen to more advice from you if any

Watch out for power constraints if you're planning to expand. I used to have some racks at telehouse at 25 broadway and not only were they hot, but they wouldn't give us more than 20 amps per cabinet - a huge roadblock - you can't come anywhere near filling a cabinet on 20 amps - even if you're not doing ultra dense blades. It's understandable that they wanted to limit power, but it's a big factor to consider in your planning.

would recommend interserver.net
I know they have a "premade" deal of $2400/mo for full rack (42u) and 100mbps transfer.
You can call and they can custom tailor any requirements you have though.

This is the best one
I guess this is the best one. The website usability for ordering and pricing is just fantastic. We will definitely review the last option as the best one.
Thank you very much.

You've confused me ... you want a price for a cabinet but a price for servers too??
Do you want dedicated servers or colocation? You have to have one or the other...
You should contact both AtlanticMetro & Voxel if you want to know more about them inc. pricing, websites aren't there to tell you everything - smachiz@voxel.net; james@atlanticmetro.net.

Check up on the DC
Yesterday I first decided to call Voxel.net. non-business hours.
Autoresponder directed me to the sales dep. where there wasn't anyone to pick up the phone. Then I just dialled tech support. A girl with a pleasant voice told me she doesn't know anything and that I might need to talk to sales. I left her my emai laddress and phone number. It's been 24 hours but no response yet.
Interserver was a bit better with a guy who was probably scared by the phone call and was deeply sleeping. He told me he's going to contact his boss right now and while we are talking he is already dialling his number. Okay, he was given my phone number and the email. It's been 24h and no response.
I do not see any difference between these two services and it's hard to judge which one is worse. Maybe I was just unlucky?
Peer1 seems like a good website, so I am going to check up on it tonight. I will keep you posted.

Over at Voxel, Sam Machiz tends to be fairly ontop of sales requests. If you're still having trouble getting in touch with someone during business hours, try contacting him on this board (I think his userid is SMachiz?) Otherwise, I believe his direct email is: smachiz[at]voxel.net.
Hopefully that helps.

Voxel has space within several carrier hotels in NYC.... Would you care to clarify your comment a bit? What is the difference in purchasing space from a provider such as voxel or a ip transit company that has space in the same building? Not much location wise, although cogent may be cheaper, but Voxel and other companies alike add BGP, multi-carrier redundancy without needing your own asn, as well remote hands services that cogent may or may not outsource...

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get through to us right away and that you haven't gotten a response back yet. I will certainly check in to see what might have happened to your inquiry.
That being said, please contact me directly anytime - I would be more than happy to speak with you personally.
