Server CPU & RAM Spiking - Advise Please

    Hello,

I have a Core2Quad box and it's been running Cpanel for the past year or so. For the past few months, the CPU usage on it has been rocketing high at around 80-100 on average. Now for the past few days, the RAM keeps getting maxed out and causes the "500" server error and blocks access to Cpanel/WHM.

Does anyone know what can be wrong? I haven't overcrowded the server.

    Thank you!

sounds suspect, have you changed the configuration lately? perhaps someone has infiltrated the system. Is there a pattern of time this occurs at each day?

i would look at top and see what processes are chewing up the cpu time.

there could be some issues with the hardward itself.

    just a few thoughts

    There's a few possibilities.

    1. Runaway Script
    2. Server has a notorious person on it
    3. Hardware starting to give problems
    4. Unoptimized codes

So all in all, there's not much we could do or help at this point of time. Go monitor your TOP to see what is running and all. If you're still unsure, paste a copy of your "top" here and we'll proceed further from there.
