    Cool

    Hi there,

My name is Brian, and I just stumbled on in to this great forum a few days ago, and I wanted to thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

I have been contemplating the hosting business for awhile, and have decided that ultimately, a dedicated server is the way to go. (For the interim, I plan on being a value-added reseller until my client base justifies a dedicated server)

While I am reselling, I want to learn everything I need to know about running a server, so that when I'm ready, I can take really good care of my clients. (I also plan on having a maximum number of clients, so that they all get the service that is so sorely lacking around the net)

My question is--is there a resource (besides here, of course!)where I can learn the ins & outs of server management, and the terminology? (Such as the difference between name-based & IP hosting, what type of server is best...stuff like that)

I'm assuming that at this point, someone has put together all this info in one place. (Or maybe this is a great idea for a site!)

Anyway, thanks a bunch for your time, and I look forward to being contributing to the forum. (When I have something knowledgeable to say!)

    Take care,
    Brian

Well you'll probably be running Linux or some unix so, here are some sites with tons of that sort of info.

    http://www.linuxdoc.org/
    http://www.apache.org/
    http://www.sendmail.net/

I know that's not exactly what you're looking for, but it'll atleast make you smarter.
