    Chose for yourself:
    Hetzner: http://www.robtex.com/as/as24940.html
    OVH: http://www.robtex.com/as/as16276.html // http://weathermap.ovh.net/

Personally, i would prefer Hetzner, because i live in Germany.
OVH had quite a lot of troubles with available Bandwidth to Germany, and there are several Reports of not-so-optimal Speeds over the pond - something i really like Hetzners Level3 Uplink for.
On the other hand, quite a lot of Hetzners traffic is routed via init7, from which i experienced some really weird Routing (which may actually not be init7's fault), eg. to the Washington Softlayer DC which routes via LA/nlayer.
But thats way to specific to draw a conclusion which is representative.

Again: check for yourself and wheigh in your personal requirements.

I get better pings to ovh from Newhampshire then I do with Hetzner. Not using either as a direct paying customer but managing a few aspects of servers on both sides and helping a friend run backups with both services speaking to support, OVH was faster but did seem to have more fair share of network issues.

Yes, OVH did have some download speed performance issues when they first started and for some time but in my opinion, download speeds from across the ocean is similar to what Hetzner provides after they had made a few changes.

It could have been just an issue with a switch we were on but when OVH's network is working it's great and I would choose them over Hetzner if it wasn't for the network issues that came up.

Network stability seems to be better with Hetzner which I would definitely take over a couple ms ping difference.

It depends to some extent on where you want to connect to. Hetzner have a fat pipe to DEC-IX which is one of the best-connected exchanges in Europe, and have substantial connections to other networks. See: http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/unt.../rechenzentrum

OVH run their own European network and connect to about 11 of the IXs including DEC-IX, LINX and AMSIX, and then hand off to peers. See: http://weathermap.ovh.net/europe

Their European network is strong, but there have been complaints in the past about speeds to/from the USA. This has been improved a lot over recent months with better connectivity through GBLX and the addition of TATA.

I would imagine the "USA problem" is about to go away for ever as they're about to start offering servers in the US and turn up their new USA/Canada matrix. See: http://weathermap.ovh.net/usa

    OVH have big "USA problem".
For example, network speed from OVH 1 Gbps dedicated server to USA:

OVH dedicated server 1 Gbps --> USA
    [ 3] local 176.31.xxx.xxx port 60153 connected with 204.45.xxx.xxx port 4545
    [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
    [ 3] 0.0- 1.0 sec 376 KBytes 3.08 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 1.0- 2.0 sec 528 KBytes 4.33 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 2.0- 3.0 sec 360 KBytes 2.95 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 3.0- 4.0 sec 432 KBytes 3.54 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 4.0- 5.0 sec 384 KBytes 3.15 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 5.0- 6.0 sec 320 KBytes 2.62 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 6.0- 7.0 sec 256 KBytes 2.10 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 7.0- 8.0 sec 256 KBytes 2.10 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 8.0- 9.0 sec 384 KBytes 3.15 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 9.0-10.0 sec 376 KBytes 3.08 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 10.0-11.0 sec 256 KBytes 2.10 Mbits/sec

    And from Leaseweb:

Leaseweb dedicated server 100 Mbps -- > USA

    [ 3] local 85.17.xxx.xxx port 46074 connected with 204.45.xxx.xxx port 4545
    [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
    [ 3] 0.0- 1.0 sec 384 KBytes 3.15 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 1.0- 2.0 sec 3.88 MBytes 32.5 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 2.0- 3.0 sec 5.50 MBytes 46.1 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 3.0- 4.0 sec 6.38 MBytes 53.5 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 4.0- 5.0 sec 5.62 MBytes 47.2 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 5.0- 6.0 sec 6.50 MBytes 54.5 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 6.0- 7.0 sec 5.62 MBytes 47.2 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 7.0- 8.0 sec 6.88 MBytes 57.7 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 8.0- 9.0 sec 6.38 MBytes 53.5 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 9.0-10.0 sec 7.75 MBytes 65.0 Mbits/sec
    [ 3] 10.0-11.0 sec 8.50 MBytes 71.3 Mbits/sec

Also, support of OVH ir horrible - usualy it takes 2 weeks to resolve problem.

Your above speeds mean absolutley nothing.

OVH has more capacity and is expanding rapidly compared to hetzner.
Speeds from ovh to the USA have improved significantly.

I would by far choose OVH. I currently operate roughly 50 servers with ovh and all run flawlessly to clients in north america and europe.

OVH have a great network, I have a few servers with them at the moment.

A few years ago they were probably giving bandwidth away a bit too much, which caused some of the network to be saturated, generally on the US transit providers.

Recently bandwidth allocations have got more realistic and the network is great, can't really comment on HETZER though.

Great network ? "Great", when 2 dedicated servers (100 Mbps and 1 Gbps) in the same DC (roubaix-1) have only 14 Mbps of bandwith between them?

    root@ns39xx:~# iperf -c 176.31.xxx.xxx -p 4545 -n 100M
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    -
Client connecting to 176.31.xxx.xxx, TCP port 4545
TCP window size: 16.0 KByte (default)
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    -
    [ 3] local 91.121.xxx.xxx port 52024 connected with
    176.31.xxx.xxx port 4545
    [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
    [ 3] 0.0-56.7 sec 100 MBytes 14.8 Mbits/sec

Look at weathermap.ovh.net/backbone in the evening - half of links are RED, loaded at ~90 %

I posted first ticket for this problem 2012-01-15.
    Nothing changed till now.

I running few 10G server with iscsi and solusvm there. I can push arround 400 - 500MB/s in a vRack environment. Network is nice.

There are so many of these duplicate threads... Let's just face it, they both suck when it comes to quality bandwidth.
