r1soft alternatives
I was in the process of testing r1soft on some nodes, and with the recent price increase of r1soft, I would like to evaluate alternatives. Aside from a basic custom coded rsync functionality, could we start a list of alternative products? I know ThePlanet a few years ago had something called DiskSync (not sure if it still is offered), and it was basically identical to r1soft, but don't think is offered retail.

Neither one of those are robust applications comparable to R1soft. Using BQInternet is simply using rsync also. I'm looking for software alternatives to R1soft.

Bacula / Zmanda are not really built with the hosting industry in mind.

Have you looked at http://www.vembu.com ?
At first glance it looks like Windows only on the client side but is does support Linux, FreeBSD, MAC and Solaris clients. Very affordable.

Nothing else integrates into Cpanel if that is what you're looking for.
As for free/opensource alternatives, Bacula is your best bet.

I don't care about cPanel integration at all. Ideally it would be a nightly backup that does not affect disk i/o tremendously like Rsync does.
