    Question Decent whois service

I had been using whois.sc since a long time, but recently found them very slow for giving results.
Is there any other fast alternative ?

Linux shell, hands down. It's *THE* most accurate and upto-date.

If you don't have Linux installed or access to shell on some server, http://dnsstuff.com seems pretty good alternative.

The best is iWhois.com. Fast and clean design.

Best of all, they don't monitor your queries.

Good to know they don't monitor queries. I use that site a lot myself since it shows
    both registrar and registry data.

I'm with Stan. A command line (not necessarily) program like that available under linux and often ported to other OS. I don't use windows, but I'm sure there are similar programs available under that platform. The iWhois.com looks interesting.

The ports in this particular case aren't usually even remotely as successful as the original.

i have to agree on tht one, i guess something is wrong with the site itself. The site itself is not opening for me right now.

none of the above solutions are fine enought. dnsstuff and dnsreports are better instead.

I have a command line app installed but, for the life of me, can't recall where it came from. I also have this "installed" as well though I don't think it really installed so much as I extracted it and just dragged a shortcut right to the quick launch.

    God.

    Command line all the way!

Why do in HTTP what you can do in RAW WHOIS?
