    .com/.net Price Hikes

Got mail from DirectI for the price hike for .com / .net / .biz domains. Is your domain registrar is also increasing the domain's prices?

I think Enom announced it earlier.

Godaddy is also mentioning a lot while checking out. Its an increase of less than a buck so not a big thing to worry. Its probably because of inflation.

Any ideas how much is Enom and Godaddy planning to increase?
I think most of them will be increasing the price with similar amount.

Verisign says 7% so I assume that the increase would be less than 70 cents.

enom are increasing the retail price from $9.95 to $39.95 per year
Resellers are free to charge what they like above the base level, so should only see a small increase and most are advising this will be between $0.50 and $1.00
However the provider I have been using had already increased them to $15.00 and has now advised it will be $30.00 from January, but this is due to them wanting to end their relationship with enom and selling Domain Names

    Who said that?

What I see there on their order page a .com is for $15 or INR 675 which is way high than retail price.

Are you talking about eNomCentral, the retail unit of eNom Inc.? Their prices are totally crazy. Once I purchased a domain (.com) from someone and they pushed it to my enomcentral account, enomcentral was asking $35+ to renew it. I transferred the domain in no time.

Dynadot had announced the price hike earlier and Directi/ Resellerclub announced it yesterday. Have a large number of my own domains with both registrars.

    The Namecheap announcement http://community.namecheap.com/blog/...11-newsletter/
VeriSign and Neustar have decided (again) to raise prices for .com, .net, and .biz respectively. As a result, on January 14, 2012, our price for a .com or .net registration or renewal will increase to $10.69, and on January 31, 2012, our price for .biz will increase to $10.26. Renew your domains now to save money before the new year!

Our domain registrar is increasing prices. We aren't on the domains that we resell. We are taking the hit. I don't like that they increase prices and besides with our pricing we can afford an another 50 cent loss.

Does someone know how much Godaddy or Name.com will increase?

I honestly think the increases are ok. There are so many domains garbage and squatters out. 50 cents is nothing. Providers and companies cannot profit on domains if they cost so low, specially because credit cards already have a processing fee which is already a few cents plus %

For users its also a benefit. No one can complain about maintaining their domains marks for less than 15$ per year. A business owners is absolutely not affected by this. Only those registering hundreds or thousands of domains which they donīt even use and hold for others to register.
