Which SSD models do you use? How do they compared to the SSD you use for the EX line?

Is Flexipack required to add options to this server (things like SSD, extra RAM, failover IP)?

Now if only...

For random IO SSD is faster and it's not even close.

A RAID 10 of 4 7200rpm disks give you 150 - 200 IOPS

A consumer grade SSD gives you 20,000 IOPS or more.

Do you have a dedicated port?

If not, you're sharing that 1Gbps connection with many other servers. That'd explain why you can't go higher than 240mbps

It really depends on what you consider "server grade" SSD's.

The vast majority of the SSD's offered by hosting companies (Intel 320, 520, Vortex 3, etc) are all made for the consumer market. True...

5 petabytes is 40 petabits.

That's 40,000,000 gigabits (per month presumably).

That means an average throughput of 15.4gbps.

Say your peak traffic is 3x your average. So you're looking at...

RAM is not expensive, you're just looking at expensive hosts.

You can get an entire server with 64GB RAM for less than $120 per month at Hetzner.

It depends on the situation.

Do you have enough RAM that you're running your entire database and files out of memory? If so then having an SSD might not be very important.
