Aren't they illegal to use?
Well it's really an uncatchable offence with most scanner owners.
I'm actually a very good radio scanner but with this one i just cannot figure it out and i have been trying for like 7 hours now.
As in a police scanner?
Depends on your state...
I know up in Michigan (where I'm from -- not sure about the laws in Florida are yet), it was legal to have them in your home -- but not in your car (too many ppl being nosey and going to crime scenes, etc).
If you're caught with one of them in your car (aka pulled over, etc), you can get in some deep trouble.
I've used one before (in home), but its been years.
I'm sure if came with instructions, didn't it? ;)
I it came with instructions and all that but it's i'm a pro and the scanners for a pro so well it's pretty technical.
My brother went to glasgow in the car and he was saying how they had radio scanners in there car and you could hear them out the window:mad: , that's just silly.
I think the newspaper reporters use them but i don't know if there allowed to use them. I'm sure you are allowed to broadcast a scanner over the net in California cause everyones doing it and there very much legit people.
I'm in Scotland so i'm lucky since Scotland is the place with the worst and most crime(trust me).
I was listening to the ships in the sea and this kind of german speaking boat with these german kind of speaking people on board and this scottish boat with scottish talking people on it and the scottish captain said "Pilot of the boat good morning suvikit" and the other kind of german speaking guy went "what side pilot planning" and the scottish went "I i'll come on your starboard side please" and german goes "starboard side" and scottish go "roger sir, what's your freeboard sir" and german go "4 meter, 3, 2 meter" and scottisg goes "i standby sir we will be along side you in a few minutes" and i recorded it like cause it was so funny.
I live very near the docks so that's handy and quite honestly i can't so what's wrong with listening to the forth coastguard even though i'm the one that complain about privacy..
I was listening to fife police and the police was responding to a call from a mother because she found notes in her 14 year old daughters bedroom saying how she has been having sex with an 80 year old, it's true.
There's thsi really sexy speaking police operator lady in Cowdenbeath( Scotland like) and the most sexiest thing she has said yet is "he's in custody with the manager" cause the guy was wondering the abouts of this shoplifter cause he thought he was still shoplifting in the shops but he was "in custody with the manager":D ..
I thought they were supposed to be encrypting the police channels now? Not to stop weirdos falling in love with the operator :D but to stop criminals listening in?
In Northumberland(North England) there radio systems are but i don't think any place in Scotland has took this step (yet).
